Mission To Japan | Christian Host Families Needed!

Mission To Japan has an urgent need for several Christian host families to be a part of their mission work to share the gospel with Japanese college students. Host families are needed to host one Japanese college student each, from Feb. 19 ~ March 14 (but students will be away for a spring break retreat in Daytona from March 4 ~ 8). Most students speak enough English to get by. Host families drop their student off at Northland Church in Longwood at 9:15 a.m. Monday ~ Friday, and pick their student up in the evenings (usually between 5:30 ~ 6:30 p.m.).

The staff of Mission To Japan (Warren and Yukari Griffith) will provide guidance through the whole program, and will meet with students each weekday for classes and sightseeing. Host family responsibilities include providing a guest room, getting your student to and from the church on weekdays, providing meals, and just loving them. This is a great and practical way to help fulfill the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. The whole family will enjoy interacting with your Japanese student too.

We’ll have a host family orientation before the students arrive to equip host families for the best experience possible. Most of the students are not Christians but are open to the Bible studies we’ll provide (in Japanese) and know that the host families are Christians. Most students join to experience American culture, practice English, and enjoy sightseeing in Orlando (Mission To Japan takes the students to the theme parks so you don’t have to).

A Year in the Life: Backstage to Onstage at Universal Orlando Resort Exhibition

In an unprecedented collaboration, Universal Orlando Resort and the Orange County Regional History Center in Orlando, Fla., present A Year in the Life: Backstage to Onstage at Universal Orlando Resort, an exhibition that gives visitors an exclusive look at the extensive process that goes into bringing the theme park’s iconic annual events to life. Opening January 26, 2013, and running through January 26, 2014, the exhibition will change with each Universal Orlando Resort event season and the holidays – focusing on The Macy’s Holiday Parade and performances by Holiday Music Sensation Mannheim Steamroller. It also showcases the creative process that brought to life two of Universal Orlando Resort’s newest entertainment experiences – the Universal Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories lagoon show and the Universal Superstar Parade.

Discovery Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)

Plunge into something new this fall! MOPS-it’s like a monthly playdate for moms! Eat, laugh learn, love and grow with other moms while our preschoolers are cared for in an onsite pre-school setting called MOPPETS. You can even bring your newborn into the meeting with you! We meet first Tuesdays of September-May 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. First meeting is FREE, $35 annually which includes childcare.

Moms4Moms is a group that serves as an oasis of peace and hope offering answers to various situations that moms of young children encounter every day. We provide sounds biblical guidance and vibrate relationships so she can thrive in the many seasons of motherhood! Meetings include food, guest speakers, games and crafts just to name a few! This group is open to any mother of an infant or preschool aged children as well as homeschooling families. Childcare is provided. As children enter school years, new challenges arise. Just as MOPS got you through the “no-no” stage, MOMS next is here to support you in the “go-go” stage. Here you are welcome, accepted and inspired to reach your full potential as a woman and a mother. Come just as you are to enjoy brunch and experience authentic community and spiritual hope with other moms. MOMS next of Willow Creek Church will provide speakers on various topics throughout the year to help advise, equip and develop mothers of school-aged children.
