Brevard For Life 25th Anniversary Celebration

Location: First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, Merritt Island Florida

Come celebrate with us! Join us for a countywide celebration of life and the incredible faithfulness of God on April 25, 2015, starting at 7:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.

Tickets will be available beginning March 15, 2015 through the Brevard for Life Website.  Admission is free.

Guest speaker: Pam Tebow

Pam enjoys speaking for women’s groups, nonprofit fundraisers, and various events in many cities across the country, and is currently writing a book on parenting. The notoriety of the Tebow family increased when their youngest son won the Heisman Trophy following his sophomore football season with the Florida Gators. Because ESPN aired the portion of the interview with Pam that focused on her refusal to abort “Timmy” when she was advised to do so, she has been given a national platform to encourage the pro-life message. In 2010, Pam and Tim were in a Super Bowl commercial that celebrated family and life, which, according to a Barna survey, resulted in 5.5 million people “having cause to rethink their stand on abortion.” Pam is also passionate about encouraging women to trust the Lord with all their hearts for all their lives and to use the incredible influence God has given them to eternally impact their world.

Camp Bridges: Free 2 Day Camp for Grieving Children

Location: Warren W. Willis United Methodist Youth Camp, Fruitland Park Fl

Grieving Children Find Their Voice at Camp Bridges
Every spring, the good folks of Cornerstone Hospice turn their focus to children in Lake and Sumter Counties who have lost a loved one and may be having issues dealing with their grief. Camp Bridges is a no cost, two-day, overnight camp for children age 6 to 11 years that provides structured activities that encourage group sharing, bonding and team building.

Children participate in arts and crafts sessions that help them share their feelings. For instance, they make collages about themselves and their loss. They also decorate “bricks” honoring their loved ones and place it on the campground “bridge” (where Camp Bridges gets its name). From a nature walk in the morning to stories around a campfire at night with lots of fun in between—swimming pool with slides, movie night complete with popcorn—Camp Bridges provides a much needed escape for youngsters.

Camp Bridges will celebrate its 20th anniversary of helping young ones deal with the pain of loss. For more information about Camp Bridges please contact counselor Mike Barnett at: 352.742.6808.
