Presentation: Haitian Culture through the Lens of Art History


Location: The Albin Polasek Musuem, Winter Park Fl

In conjunction with our current exhibit, Contemporary Visions of Frantz Zéphirin: Haitian Mystic, discover more about Haitian culture from Rollins Art Librarian/Digital Archivist, Rachel Walton, who wrote her master’s thesis on Haiti in the eighteenth century. Walton will provide an art history backdrop to help us understand the progression of modern Haitian art trends. The lecture will be located in the Historic Capen House on the Polasek Campus at 7:00 pm, followed by an informal gallery walk through of our current exhibit in the Polasek Gallery.

2017 Women of the Word Conference


Location: Wycliffe Bible Translators, Orlando Fl

Wycliffe has opened registration for the 2017 Women of the Word Conference, which will be held at their Orlando headquarters on March 17-18. An early-bird discount will be available until Feb. 28.  Speakers include prominent Christian authors Annie Downs and Chrystal Evans Hurst. Worship will be lead by Seth and Nirva Ready.

Two days of spiritual refreshment, encouragement, empowerment focused on hope found in Christ and God’s Word. Wycliffe Women of the Word is an initiative focused on connecting women with Scripture and their role in God’s mission around the world. Featuring authors Annie Downs and Chrystal Evans Hurst, and worship leaders Seth and Nirva Ready, this two-day conference is a chance for women to feel revived and renewed in their relationship with God.

Chrystal Evans Hurst is an author and blogger who encourages women to love the Lord, their families and themselves. Chrystal is a wife and mother of five, and the author of “Kingdom Woman.”Seth and Nirva Ready will lead worship at the conference. Nirva, a Chicago native and daughter of Haitian immigrants, was a singer and dancer in TobyMac’s Diverse City Band, and was a member of the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers. Seth grew up in central Florida, has toured with Kirk Franklin and was a background vocalist for Chris Tomlin, Cece Winans and more. Together, Seth and Nirva use their music to proclaim the truth that God is present and active, and that we are all part of his story.

Conference to be held March 17-18 at Wycliffe USA’s headquarters in Orlando. A discounted early-bird rate of $45 is available until Feb. 28 (ticket price includes admittance and a boxed lunch on Saturday.)

Join us for our 2nd annual cupcakes and conversations event taking place Saturday March 18 at the Orlando public library. Cupcakes and Conversations is a open forum where youth girls unite in the spirit of sisterhood to communicate positively about issues that face them today.Cupcakes and Conversations is about giving our girls a platform and a voice, we get together in the spirit of sisterhood to dialogue about issues they face today and how we can work together to come up with solutions. Some girls may not open up if a parent is in the room so for this event we would prefer parents wait outside the room in the library to allow your daughters a chance to open up. This is a FREE event for middle and high school age girls but seating is limited so reserve a seat today.

Jenn's Journey Golf Tournament: A Fight Against Cancer


Location: Venetian Bay Golf Club, New Symrna Beach FL

The 2nd Annual #JennsJourney Golf Tournament is going to get the Arrington Family on the road to recovery and a percentage of all proceeds earned for the Golf Tournament will be donated to other Foundations and young adults battling cancer. Please join us for a FUN Day FULL of Prizes, Food, Raffles and more at Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach.

Jenn’s Journey has been long and painful. During her cancer treatment she has started an inspiring Facebook Page with encouraging posts and the reality of life as a cancer patient. Jenn also organized a successful Christmas outreach project that gave back to others fighting cancer. During this journey she has maintained her positive attitude and has stayed firm in her faith. Thank you for your support and joining us on Jenn’s Journey. This is just a brief a walk through Jenns journey:

  • Found out she was pregnant with her second child  September 15, 2015
  • Diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma December 18, 2015 with the final pathology on December 21, 2015
  • After 10 years of employment Jenn had to resign from her job.
  • 56 Weeks under cancer Treatment , 31 Rounds of Proton Radiation, 39 Chemo Treatments | Final Chemo Jan 25-27, 2017
  • 10 Surgical Procedures (8️ without Anesthesia, Radiation Guidance or Pain Medication)
  • Delivered her second child 6 weeks early April 19, 2016 and met her newborn baby 4 days later
  • May 11, 2016 Moved to Jacksonville for 3 months for Proton Radiation treatment with her mother and 2 boys. Her husband had to stay home and work.
  • Numerous Scans, Countless Injections
  • And still more to surgeries to go.

Christian Dance Studio Grand Opening

We are opening a Christian dance studio locally here in Casselberry. Our mission is to reach our community youth through movement and building relationships. We are having our Grand Opening March 18, 2017 and would love for you to be a part of the event! We use so much of the music we hear on Z88.3 as inspiration for new dances and choreography!
