Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale

Location: St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Sanctuary, Orlando FL

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will host The Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale on Sunday, April 27th (the Sunday after Easter). The Chorale, under the direction of Professor Damon H. Dandridge, will lead the 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. traditional worship services in the Sanctuary. This is always an exciting and uplifting time of music and ministry! The offering during these services will go to support music scholarships at the University. St. Luke’s will offer their regular Contemporary Worship services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Coleman Gymnasium.

14th Annual Great American Pie Festival

Location: Celebration, FL, Celebration

The town of Celebration, Florida will become the Pie Capital of the world on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2014, when thousands of pie lovers, tasters and bakers gather together for the 14th Annual American Pie Council’s Great American Pie Festival. Help preserve America’s pie heritage by taking part in the Never Ending Pie Buffet, pie eating contests, pie baking activities, cooking demonstrations, PieCasso art, the Baker’s Square Pietopia stage with live music and entertainment, games and much more.  The highlight, as always, will be the Never-Ending Pie Buffet, featuring award-winning pie, ice cream, toppings, and beverages from some of our fine sponsors. Don’t miss the announcement of the winners of the APC National Pie Championships, taking place this same weekend, Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27.

Joshua Foundation Charity ProAm Golf Tournament

Location: Orange County National Golf Center & Lodge, Winter Garden FL

Joshua Foundation is a Christian non-profit organization that has been instrumental in bringing hope and resources to many people throughout the country of Ecuador. The Foundation was named after Joshua Kim, who was an Orlando native. The Foundation was created to honor his life and legacy. Joshua was a skilled musician who used his music skills to minister to people both at home and overseas. His talent coupled with his commitment to service and missions took him on many overseas trips.

In 2011, Joshua went on his final mission trip to Ecuador and died on the mission field at the young age of 21. Joshua’s passion for the people of Ecuador led his parents to start the Foundation bearing their son’s name to continue to reach out to serve the people of Ecuador.

The Sunbelt Senior Tour is collaborating with Joshua Foundation to sponsor and host the 1st Annual Joshua Foundation Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Orange County National on April 27, 2014. Please join us in honoring Joshua’s life and supporting the mission of the foundation.

Concert by LYRA: Russian Singers of Church and Folk Songs

Location: Peace Lutheran Church, Palm Bay Florida

LYRA, an a cappella group of four professional singers from St. Petersburg, Russia, will present a concert of Russian choral music. The first part of the concert, sacred music of the Russian Orthodox Church, includes ancient songs and works of famous masters and little known but remarkable Russian composers of 18 – 20 centuries. The second part of their program is made up of Russian folk songs: comic, lyric, dancing, and love songs. The duration of the concert is 60 – 70 minutes.

This is a unique opportunity to share the enormous Russian musical heritage. Come and enjoy the sounds of Russia as interpreted by real Russians. All the singers are professionals singing in different professional choirs and opera houses of St. Petersburg.
