Parenting Ain't Easy Conference

Parenting Ain’t Easy and it can be very challenging at times and the cause of stress for the best of parents! JOIN US for a parenting conference where you can learn ways to deal with challenging behaviors, how to deal with bullying and bullying behaviors, reduce your daily stress, parent children with mental health and have more fun with your children. Guest speakers will share relevant strategies and tips on parenting, practical ways to help make parenting easier and family life a little less hectic.

Conference Host & Parent Coach, YaSheema Marshall, will remind you that there is no such thing as a “perfect parent” with her “The Myth of a Perfect Parent” talk! Our Keynote Speaker, who is a Bullying Expert, Author & Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Jim West, will give his acclaimed presentation on “Dealing with Difficult Kids” & “How To Fly Under the Bullying Radar” that is a must hear for ALL parents! Licensed Psychotherapist, Morgan Rahimi, will remind you of the importance of taking care of yourself as a parent with her session “An Apple a Day: Tips for Parental Self-Care” and Dr. Maxine Ruddock will help you dig deeper by sharing with us what to do when your kid doesn’t fit in the “normal” box with her session “Parenting Outside the Box.” This will be a fun, interactive and informative conference that parents don’t want to miss!

7th Annual Paws for Peace Walk for Harbor House of Central Florida

Location: Blue Jacket Park, Winter Park FL

Join Harbor House of Central Florida, Orange County’s only 24/7 certified domestic violence shelter, at its 7th Annual Paws for Peace Walk on Saturday, April 22, to raise awareness of the life-saving support this non-profit organization provides to domestic abuse survivors, their families, and their pets.

What: A fun and leisurely stroll for pets, their families and friends, Paws for Peace is an annual fundraising event that supports Harbor House and its Paws for Peace Kennel. The kennel recently expanded which allows more survivors to bring their pets when they leave their homes. Harbor House has the only onsite kennel for the pets of domestic abuse survivors in Central Florida. The walk is a family-friendly event and will feature bounce houses, music and a train ride for children, as well as free custard samples.

When: Saturday, April 22 at 9:00AM

Registration: 8:00 – 9:00AM; Walk 9:00AM – 12:00PM

Why: Paws for Peace Kennel ensures no family member is left behind in an abusive home, and allows children of survivors to maintain contact with their pets while staying in the safety of the shelter.

  • 48% of survivors delay leaving an abusive situation for fear that their pets will be harmed.
  • 88% of pets living in domestic violence homes are abused.
  • 100% of the proceeds of this walk will go towards survivor services and kennel operations

Who: The event is open to teams and individuals and is great for families.

Open House: Help a Horse Day

Location: Wild Horse Rescue Center, Mims Florida

The Wild Horse Rescue Center will be taking part in the national celebration of ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) Help A Horse Day on April 22 from 1-5 at the WHRC and competing for a chance to win up to $25,000 in grant prizes to assist with their efforts to protect horses.

To celebrate the day, the Wild Horse Rescue Center will be hosting an Open House at the Center that houses more than 50 mustangs and some burros!  Come learn more about the Center’s mission to care and train wild horse and enjoy the family activities planned like Horse Tales and Horse Painting, and of course, raffles!
