Wild Florida: Past, Present and Future, an Art of Sand Exhibit

Location: Brevard Zoo, Melbourne FL

Wild Florida: Past, Present and Future, an Art of Sand exhibit, opens President’s Day weekend and remains open through Memorial Day. Guests to Brevard Zoo can take their walk on the wild side to new depths of art and history as they traverse a 1/4-mile trail taking in 13 incredible sand sculptures carved into the native landscape of Brevard Zoo. Created by eight international sand sculptors, this exhibit shares the Florida story – tracing the history of wildlife and humans on our peninsula. Hear the sounds of a time gone by as you view these breathtaking artistic and historical sculptures – just in time to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s first exploration of North America.

This exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. February 16 through May 27. It has a separate admission price (in addition to Zoo admission) of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free.

For additional information, please visit the Brevard Zoo or call 321.254.9453.

Mother Knows Best Cabaret

Location: Central Florida Community Arts, Orlando Florida

Central Florida Community Arts is a non profit organization who strives to make the arts as accessible to as many people as possible while connecting with other non profit organizations. One of the ways we do this is by offering tickets to our performances at a low cost of $10 or less.

Central Florida Community Arts’ monthly cabaret series continues in May with the one and only Katy Willis starring in a Mother’s Day themed show entitled Mother Knows Best.

No stranger to the stage, Katy has spent the past decade entertaining throughout the country and beyond, from theme parks in Florida, to theaters in Minnesota and New York City, to a three-year stint as an entertainer on the Disney Cruise Line. After playing “Kate McGowan” in CFCArts’ Titanic – The Musical in September 2012, Katy took on her most recent and favorite role – that of being a mother – when her son Ethan John, who was the inspiration for her cabaret theme, was born six weeks after the end of the run of Titanic.

Reserved seating can be purchased in advance for $12 online or General Admission seating can be purchased for$10 at the door (cash/check only).
Doors open 30 minutes before the show begins. Snacks and beverages will be available for sale and proceeds will be donated to Central Florida Community Arts.

For further information about Central Florida Community Arts or its monthly cabaret series, please visit the website at Central Florida Community Arts or contact CFCArts Founder and Executive Director Joshua Vickery at 407.937.1800.
