Biology Colloquium Speaker: Paul Rosolie


Location: Seminole State College, Building G, Sanford Fl

As part of the Biology Colloqium Series, the Seminole State College Environmental Initiative Club and Biology Department are pleased to host naturalist, author, and award-winning wildlife filmmaker Paul Rosolie, who will describe his experiences in the Amazon Rainforest. Rosolie will also discuss his memoir Mother of God, detailing his adventures in the Peruvian Amazon, the most biodiverse wilderness on Earth. Everyone is welcome to come learn about his wildlife encounters and how his conservation project, Tamandua Expeditions, uses tourism to support rainforest conservation.

A reception and book signing (with books available for purchase) will immediately follow the presentation.

Open House: Help a Horse Day


Location: Wild Horse Rescue Center, Mims Florida

The Wild Horse Rescue Center will be taking part in the national celebration of ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) Help A Horse Day on April 22 from 1-5 at the WHRC and competing for a chance to win up to $25,000 in grant prizes to assist with their efforts to protect horses.

To celebrate the day, the Wild Horse Rescue Center will be hosting an Open House at the Center that houses more than 50 mustangs and some burros!  Come learn more about the Center’s mission to care and train wild horse and enjoy the family activities planned like Horse Tales and Horse Painting, and of course, raffles!

Bark Sale (Community Yard Sale)


Location: Ocala Police Department, Ocala Fl

A community yard sale to benefit VOCAL (Voices of Change Animal League). We are selling “spots” for those who wish to hold a yard sale but don’t want to do it at their home. The spots are going for $15 without table and $20 with a table. The money raised from the rental of the spots is the only money VOCAL will collect from the vendors (the vendors keep whatever money they raise from the sale of their items). VOCAL will have tables set up with yard sale items for sale (for those wishing to donate yard sale items we are collecting those as well).
