Tree Lighting Celebration

Location: Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park, Orlando

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer invites Central Florida residents and visitors to kick off the holiday season at the Tree Lighting Celebration! The evening will include a countdown leading to the lighting of the 72-foot Christmas tree featuring 88,000 animated lights, Eola Wonderland Christmas Tree performance, a holiday concert from Encore Cast Performing Arts, The Daily City food truck bazaar, the Trinity Lutheran School Christmas musical and festival vendors!

Winter on the Avenue

Location: Park Avenue & Central Park, Winter Park Florida

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and the City of Winter Park are proud to host Winter on the Avenue, a kickoff to the holiday season presented by Westminster Winter Park along Park Avenue and in Central Park.

The evening begins with the 26th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Central Park just north of the Rose Garden. Local children’s choirs will perform beginning at 5 p.m., including St. Margaret Mary Catholic School Choir, Park Maitland “Singing Eagles” Glee Club and Winter Park High School’s Belle Chanson Choir. Winners of the Holiday Art Competition will also be recognized and WFTV Channel 9 news anchor Bob Opsahl will join the crowd for the lighting of the tree live on the evening newscast. Complimentary refreshments from local merchants will also be available.

Following the tree lighting, Central Florida Community Arts will lead children and families in a caroling procession along Park Avenue to Central Park, just north of Morse Boulevard. A special guest from the North Pole will arrive at 6:30 p.m., thanks to the Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for visits and photos until 7:30 p.m., along with complimentary refreshments from local merchants.

Enjoy a one of a kind Christmas Celebration! ‘Christmas in the Country’ has a variety of activities for all ages. Start with a hay ride through a Christmas Wonderland and lights display. Meet Santa and get your picture taken with him. Enjoy hot cocoa and roast marshmallows over a bonfire on the beautiful lake front.

View our collection of nativity displays, step into our ceramic Christmas village and model train building. Watch the trains make their way around the room through the various town sets, learn how different Christmas treats are made, navigate the holiday themed maze, and complete a scavenger hunt to win a prize. Create your very own ornament to take home, or let the kids run around the “Forest of Fun Play Area” with plenty of space and 3 separate play sets.

Miracle on 34th Street

Location: Garden Theatre, Winter Garden Florida

You’re invited to see Miracle on 34th Street, a play from a Novel by Valentine Davies, based on the 20th Century Fox Motion Picture “Miracle on 34th Street”.

This charming play inspired by the 1947 film is even more miraculous on stage than on the silver screen. Seven-year-old Susan has doubts about childhood’s most enduring miracle – Santa Claus. But after meeting a special department store Santa who’s convinced he’s the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all – something to believe in.

This version was adapted by Mountain Community Theater, produced by Garden Theatre, and directed by Tim Williams.
