"Camp Safe Haven": Free Hospice Support Program


Location: Florida’s Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., Pierson FL

Haven Hospice is offering a FREE, grief-support experience for families through the Camp Safe Haven program. The experience will help families understand their feelings of loss and give them an opportunity to heal. Camp Safe Haven Family Camp will be held at Saturday, September 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. Supported by Haven’s professionals and volunteers, Camp Safe Haven helps families to acknowledge that a change in their lives has occurred, to accept that change and to make adjustments. Camp Safe Haven is FREE and open to any families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The loved one did not have to be cared for by Haven Hospice in order to participate in the camp.

A wide variety of artists will be a part of the outdoor juried art festival, one main stage of live entertainment, a Kids’ Zone, Student Art Show, and a wide variety of vendors! Pink Out: Free World Record, Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Florida Hospital Attempts to Break Guinness World Record and Raise Awareness for Breast Cancer

To kick-off Pink Out Winter Park 2014, Florida Hospital will attempt to reclaim the Guinness World Record for the most number of people standing on one leg, like a flamingo in glow-in-the-dark apparel to Pink Out the night to help spread the breast health message to raise awareness for breast health. The record had previously been set in 2012 and was held for five weeks. Pink Out Winter Park is an initiative by Winter Park Memorial Hospital, a Florida Hospital, and the City of Winter Park to raise breast cancer awareness and provide financial assistance for mammograms for women in need. “Pink Out” Winter Park launched in 2011, and has helped more than 140 women gain access to life-saving mammograms and has sold more than 7,000 flamingos to date. At the conclusion of the world record attempt, Park Avenue will be lit aglow in a dazzling array of pink lights. The family-friendly event is free so come and get your leg up!
