Wild Florida: Past, Present and Future, an Art of Sand Exhibit

Location: Brevard Zoo, Melbourne FL

Wild Florida: Past, Present and Future, an Art of Sand exhibit, opens President’s Day weekend and remains open through Memorial Day. Guests to Brevard Zoo can take their walk on the wild side to new depths of art and history as they traverse a 1/4-mile trail taking in 13 incredible sand sculptures carved into the native landscape of Brevard Zoo. Created by eight international sand sculptors, this exhibit shares the Florida story – tracing the history of wildlife and humans on our peninsula. Hear the sounds of a time gone by as you view these breathtaking artistic and historical sculptures – just in time to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s first exploration of North America.

This exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. February 16 through May 27. It has a separate admission price (in addition to Zoo admission) of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free.

For additional information, please visit the Brevard Zoo or call 321.254.9453.

Veterans Outreach Foundation Charity Golf Tournament

Location: Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge, Winter Garden FL

“Join us as we give back to those who gave so much for all of us!”

The Veterans Outreach Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and assisting Military Veterans from all generations and all walks of life, is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Players, sponsors, and donors… step up and help “give back” to our beloved Veterans, whose sacrifices carried out our country’s objectives to keep us safe and free.

Our event will be held at the award-winning Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge, on the unique Panther Lake course–a course of natural beauty, designed with rolling meadows, through native pines, around and over wetlands, lakes, and up and down elevation changes of up to 60 feet.

Net proceeds raised from this event will benefit the Haley House Fund, a nonprofit volunteer organization, founded to relieve the social and economic strain on families of Active Duty and Veterans being treated for life-threatening diseases and trauma at James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa.  As the busiest of the five Polytrauma Centers in the country, this regional facility specializes in Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Blast Injury treatment programs.

For families living over 50 miles away from the center and qualifying for aid based on income limits, the Haley House Fund provides local lodging and transportation to and from the hospital so that Veterans can be with their families and loved ones during their complex, long-term treatment.

The Veterans Outreach Foundation takes special pride that all of our staff and members are volunteers, and 100% of net proceeds go directly to support the needs of our abled and disabled Veterans.

For information, please call us at 407.437.5922 or visit our event website at the The Veterans Outreach Foundation, Inc.
