Calamity Jane

Location: Orlando Repertory Edyth Bush Theatre, Orlando Florida

‘Calam’ dresses like a man, totes a gun and drives the Deadwood City stagecoach. Well-meaning, but disaster-prone, she tries to help the local saloon proprietor out of a jam by promising to fetch a music-hall star from Chicago. A hilarious comedy, it nevertheless has many tender moments and some very famous numbers, including “Secret Love”, “Black Hills Of Dakota, “Deadwood Stage” and “Windy City.”

Deadwood City’s two most famous peace officers, Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hikock, get involved in saving the neck of Henry Miller, the local saloon operator. It seems that “Millie” has been promoting a beautiful actress named Frances Fryer, but Frances turns out to be a boy, Francis. Millie’s attempt to cover up is soon unmasked by the angry miners. To keep the peace, Calamity sets out for Chicago to bring back the miner’s real heart-throb, Adelaide Adams. What happens next is more mistaken identities; but at the end true love is found! Tickets can be purchased at Calamity Jane Circle Theater Company (ticket prices are $12-$14).

Performances:

June 4 & 5th | 7:30 p.m.
June 6th | 2:30 p.m. &  7:30 p.m.

They will also enjoy making crafts, swimming, and getting to know other kids their same age.

There are three teams to choose from: Cookie Command —This team will make cookies and package them with Bible verses and then go to local police stations and fire departments and hand out the goody packages. Teepee Camp — This team will learn how to mix and pour concrete slabs for teepees that are used on the Teen Missions property. They will also have an opportunity to do a Gospel presentation at a local nursing home. Nehemiah’s Trusses— This team will learn how to use a hammer and nails to build trusses which will be used to construct a covered sidewalk at the Teen Missions base. They, too, will go to a local assisted living facility to share the love of Jesus through music and puppets.
