Great Day in the Country

Location: Oviedo on the Park, Oviedo Florida

The GFWC Oviedo Woman’s Club Hosts

43rd Annual Great Day in the Country

Saturday November 12, 2016   9am to 4pm

Oviedo on the Park, 299 Center Lake Lane, Oviedo FL  32765

For 43 years, the Oviedo Woman’s Club has hosted Great Day in the Country.  This year we are proud to wear our new logo while embarking on a new journey in our new location, Oviedo on the Park.  The logo was designed by a Seminole State College Graphics Student.  Our partnership with Seminole State allowed their students to take this project on as a “class” project.  The winner, Jasmine Abdullah Alzayer, received an award for the best design.  Oviedo on the Park, the new downtown for the City of Oviedo will provide a venue that is in the center of town, easy access, and parking on site.

This arts and crafts festival is one of the largest in Central Florida with over 350 vendors featuring arts and crafts, businesses, non-profit organizations, and food and drinks.  Our live entertainment will be on two stages and will have local student acts as well as professional bands.  For the first time, we will have beer and wine for sale.

Artists are judged in several categories and the winners are awarded a total of $4,000.00 in prize money.  Our student art fest features art from all our elementary, middle, and high school students.  And scholarships are awarded to winning students in the amount of $2,000.00.

Free shuttles will be provided from two locations, Reformed Theological Seminary on Mitchell Hammock Road and at the intersection of 419 and Oviedo Blvd.  Shuttles will drop off at Center Lake Lane and Oviedo Blvd. and at the intersection of Plaza Way Drive and Mike Roberto Way.

7th Annual Pumpkin Run to Benefit Haiti

Location: Mead Garden, Winter Park, FL, Winter Park Florida / Orange

Runners Invited to Run the Good Race for Haiti

WINTER PARK, Florida, Sept. 19, 2016 – It’s almost time for the 7th annual Pumpkin Run on November 12. The event, a 5K for runners, race-walkers and casual walkers, will benefit Catholic mission projects in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

The Pumpkin Run, sponsored by St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and St. Stephen Catholic Community, starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12 at historic Mead Garden, 1500 South Denning Drive, Winter Park.

“Every time on my return from a trip to Haiti, I thank God for the blessing of living in a land of plenty,” said Father Richard Walsh, pastor of St. Margaret Mary. “Participation in the Pumpkin Run is one way to share some of those blessings with those in great need.”

Race-day registration costs are $35 for adults and $25 for students, ages 10 to 18. Runners who register prior to November 6 will receive a discount. A special entry fee for student groups of six or more is available at $15 per student with an adult registration; children age 9 and under can race for free with a paying adult.

Visit www.pumpkin5krun.com to use our secure, online registration form, or contact Jay Sujansky at 407.421.2151 for more race information, details on student group registration or how to help sponsor the event.

On-site registration and check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the race will start at 7:30 a.m., with award ceremonies to follow.

Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners and competitive walkers, and top three finishers in each male and female age group. Participants are invited to enjoy an after-race celebration supported by local sponsors and vendors. All participants will receive a free digital photo.

The event is open to the public. Free parking is available.
