CFCArts Presents "Mozart's Mass in C Minor K. 427"

Location: St Johns Lutheran Church, Winter Park Florida

Central Florida Community Arts’ (CFCArts) 4th annual Summer Classical season concert will feature Mozart’s Mass in C Minor K. 427. The CFCArts Classical Choir will perform the work, along with a full chamber orchestra. Described as “ambitious,” “elaborate” and “a perfect synthesis between classical harmony and baroque counterpoint,” this unfinished work of Mozart’s was composed in Vienna in 1782 and 1783, as a celebration of his marriage.

Mozart’s Mass in C Minor K. 427 will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1600 S Orlando Ave, Winter Park, 32789. Tickets are $10 per person and children age 12 and under will be admitted for free. Tickets are on sale now at CFCArts.

Joshua Vickery, founder and Executive Director of Central Florida Community Arts, created the organization to create opportunity for artists of all ages to come together and perform. Ticket prices to CFCArts’ shows are intentionally kept low to help make the artsaccessible and affordable. Proceeds of all tickets purchased for this show will go to the Central Florida Community Arts organization, which also include a community choir, a gospel choir, a community orchestra, a children and youth arts program and the CFCArts School of Performing Arts.

Central Florida Community Arts (CFCArts) is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) entity whose mission is to create a cultural platform where every person of every age can join an artistic family and connect, serve and perform to advance the arts in Central Florida. Besides producing seasonal concerts, the heartbeat of CFCArts is to give back to the community by partnering with local non-profits and performing, for free, at their fundraisers or for the clients they serve. Immediate future plans include the continuing Summer 2014 seasons of the organization’s Community Choir, and extended classes in their School of Performing Arts, followed by the respective kick offs of their Fall 2014 seasons for their choir, orchestras and Children & Youth Arts programs.

Superhero Dash 5K

Location: First Baptist Church of Poinciana, Poinciana Florida

A 5K run for youth mission trip to Ridgecrest, North Carolina in June of this year, 2014. Unleash the superhero within and come dressed as your favorite superhero to run or walk the 5k. It’s August 9th, 2014 and registration is only $25 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under, this includes t-shirts.

Back to School Festival (Free Haircuts for Kids, Free Health Screenings)

Location: Centerpointe Church, Palm Bay Florida

Through partnership with local businesses and concerned citizens, over 2000 backpacks filled with a variety of school supplies (paper, pens & pencils, markers, and much more) are given away. Hundreds of children receive free haircuts from professional beauticians. The children in attendance receive free spinal and eye exams, a dentist is on hand to offer visual dental exams and a dermatologist is available for skin screenings. These supplies and services are important in equipping our kids as well as ensuring a healthy start to a new school year.

In addition to the work involved in preparing kids for back to school, there is plenty of fun for all! There will be bounce houses, face painting,crafts, popcorn, sno-cones, cotton candy. As always, the Palm Bay Fire and Police Departments are on hand to interact with and inspire the kids and provide emergency services if needed. We are especially honored to have Palm Bay’s mayor, William Capote, and several city counsel members participate in serving those who come to the event. Every person who takes part in the Back 2 School Festival can take advantage of the free meal that is offered, plus snacks, plenty of water and much needed words of encouragement.

Military Veteran Volunteer Training (Cornerstone Hospice)

Location: American Legion Post 286, Orlando FL

Cornerstone Hospice is currently seeking military veterans who would like to volunteer to help other vets with their end-of-life care, recognizing that veterans have the unique shared experience and understanding of what other veterans went through.

On Saturday, August 9, 2014, Cornerstone will offer a concentrated volunteer training class for new veteran volunteers in Orlando.   The 8 hour training will offer a comprehensive orientation to Cornerstone Hospice and our specialized Cornerstone SALUTES! volunteer role. Lunch and materials will be provided.

Groveland Police Department Kids Safe Event

Location: Lake David Park, Groveland FL

The event teaches kids about a variety of safety topics. There will be information on situational awareness, fire safety, pool safety, how to dial 911, chemical dangers, substance abuse, internet safety and many other topics. There will be several safety demonstrations, prizes, fun games, and guest appearances through out the day.

There will also be a bounce house, free food, snacks and drinks for guests. The Florida Highway Patrol will also have the roll over simulator there.
