Annual 9/11 Military and Public Safety Tribute Event
Date(s) - 14 Sep 2013
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Waterford Lakes Town Center
This event is free to the public and is “A unique opportunity to educate and appreciate the men and women in uniform that put themselves in harm’s way”. Last year we held the First Annual 9/11 Military Appreciation and Awareness Event in Baldwin Park.
The purpose of the event is for the general public to meet, learn about and say “Thanks” to our men and women in uniform. Last year we centered the event around Naval Aviation and held the event in Baldwin Park, the previous home of the US Navy’s Recruit Training Center that was closed in the mid-90’s. We had such a great turnout that this year we are moving the event to Waterford Lakes Town Center to accommodate more attendees and to also open the event up to ALL branches of Military, Fire and Law Enforcement.
We have two tremendous title sponsors in Carl Black Chevrolet and Orlando Harley Davidson.
The Museum of Military History will again be on-site with displays, vehicles and making custom Dog Tags. There will be music, prize bags for the first 150 attendees and hourly drawings for prizes donated by the sponsors. All veterans that register at the “Welcome tent” will be entered into special drawings every hour with Premier Prizes and will be given a special “Goodie Bag.”
This year there will be booth Space/Stations from all branches of military, O.C. Fire Department and Law Enforcement. There will be military vehicles on display as we all Law Enforcement and Fire/Rescue Vehicles. There will be stage announcements and demonstrations, a magician, crafts, caricature artist, a horse for the kids and we will be honoring vets on stage. The big draw will be Warrior’s Way, an intense set of inflatables and obstacle courses sure to entertain the entire family.
Some of the non-profits that will be represent are Wounded Warrior, The U.S. Navy’s Lone Sailor, The Central Florida Navy league, The Lone Survivor Foundation, Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, The Camaraderie Foundation, Stars and Stripes, Navy M.O.M.S., The U.C.F. P.T.S.D. Clinic and The U.S.M.C. Scholarship Foundation (just to name a few.)
