BrightStart Pediatrics Orlando
BrightStart Pediatrics will celebrate 10 years of service for medically fragile infants and children in Central Florida with two open house events. The open house celebrations will host many of the children and families whose lives have been changed by the BrightStart program, along with local providers and partners who make up a vital network of resources for these families in Central Florida. Visitors may tour the center for an introduction to the variety of patients and services, and the unique design of BrightStart’s facilities.
BrightStart is a PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) center, a nursing and therapy center for medically fragile infants and children. Patients in this daily program receive care from pediatric nurses, therapists and aides. BrightStart also provides on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy. We are who cares for a medically fragile child when the parents go to work or school. BrightStart cares for infants and children with a variety of nursing needs, such as oxygen, apnea monitoring, G-tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilator management. Since the opening of BrightStart’s Orlando center in October 2003, nearly 400 patients have received pediatric nursing care and therapy in the program. While some patients receive services for only a few months, many medically complex children arrive in the program as infants, progressing through developmental milestones and graduating from the program as they complete their first year of kindergarten.
