EMPTY BOWLS fundraiser is Saturday at Cassia Community Club

Eustis, FL – The Cassia Cowpokes 4-H Club is hosting an Empty Bowls Dinner on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The location will be at the Cassia Community Club located at 29245 SR 44, Eustis, FL. All the money raised will go to the benefit of the Lake Cares Food Pantry.

Your $10 donation will allow participants to select their favorite locally crafted ceramic bowl, have it filled with a variety of homemade soups, bread, water and listen to live Bluegrass music while enjoying your dinner. Take the bowl home with you to remind you that others have empty bowls.

The mission of Lake Cares is “Feeding the Body, Educating the Mind and Lifting the Spirit of all Individuals.” With the help of more than 120 volunteers, their goal is to bring more educational information to clients such as teaching seminars on how to manage money and children’s nutrition. The popular garden-container class is offered regularly.

As of this date, Lake Cares now services over 120 families a week with approximately 60 to 70 families being senior or disabled. Their client database is over 2500 families with approximately 4 individuals in a family. They distribute over 300 pounds of food weekly. Their office is open 6 days a week to assist with any emergency food needs. They have established an Emergency Referral System with local churches so they can send those in need directly to Lake Cares.
