Keynote Speaker Rev. Dr. Joel C. Hunter
WHO: We are Sunshine State Interfaith Power & Light. This religious response to climate change promotes energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. The goal of this program is to foster environmental justice by protecting the earth’s ecosystem and enhancing public health and welfare for current and future generations through education, action and advocacy. We are an interfaith organization representing a diverse group of religious communities in our state.
WHAT: Long before organic labels and hybrid cars became trendy in America, the root of environmentalism was planted in a garden called Eden. Join Pastor Joel C. Hunter for a screening of “Our Father’s World,” an extraordinary documentary that will inspire Central Floridians to answer God’s call to care for creation. This community-wide event is brought to us by our friends at Interfaith Power & Light.
Produced by the Creation Care Team at Northland, “Our Father’s World” outlines the role that people of faith should play in environmentalism. The film features interviews with noted evangelical leaders and scholars, including Dr. Hunter, Bill and Lynne Hybels, Tony Campolo, James Merritt and Mark Liederbach. The insightful commentary helps viewers connect the ecological dots—from spiritual calling to modern living and how it all ultimately impacts “the least of these.”
At this special screening, Pastor Joel and other leaders will talk about how people of faith can address the climate crisis and practice care of creation. You will…
* Learn what it means to be caretakers over God’s world today.
* Connect with other believers, churches and leaders on the forefront of creation care.
* Learn how you can use “Our Father’s World” as a FREE resource for your church, group or Bible study.
* Explore valuable resources at the Creation Care Showcase that will help you care for creation!
WHY: Our mission is to mobilize faith communities to address the climate crisis and practice Care of Creation in Florida.
