Dear Parents, I would like to personally invite you to join your student on July 18th for a Bring Your Parents to Camp Day. The Lakeland Police Department and the City of Lakeland are proud to sponsor the REFUSE TO LOSE YOUTH SUMMIT at the Lake Mirror Auditorium (121 S. Lake Ave.) Tuesday, July 18th from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. FREE Admission
The REFUSE TO LOSE campaign, an initiative of Mayor Howard Wiggs’ local Gang Task Force, is committed to reducing teen violence through positive activities and programs. Activities will include an exciting fashion show, informative workshops as well as an educational session on “What To Do If Stopped By A Police Officer.” Workshops include:
Elementary Workshops Feature:
- The best ways to stay safe with “She Is Not A Stranger,”
- Health and Fitness,
- And Conflict Resolution.
Lunch will also be provided. The fun continues with arts and crafts and a Kid’s Club Puppet Show.
Teen Workshops Feature:
- The Lakeland Police Department Panel for Teen Awareness,
- A presentation by guest speaker Hotep on making good life decisions,
- And Rap Rehab with an inaugural “Sound of the Town” Competition.

We hope you will join us for some or all of the day’s activities. The evening will conclude with a BBQ dinner, youth rally and a panel workshop designed just for parents to discuss the following topics that may impact your family:

- Youth Diversion / Juvenile Records
- What Parents Need to Know about Truancy
