Central Florida Community Arts (CFCArts) is proud to present a concert version of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man as its 2014 Summer Broadway Series production. It’s the summer of 1912 and traveling salesman “Professor” Harold Hill plans to con the naive members of River City, Iowa by posing as a band leader in order to sell them instruments and uniforms for a non-existent marching band he promises to conduct. His real plan is to skip town after he has their money. That is, until he winds up falling in love with Marian Peroo, the town’s librarian who is trying to prove that Hill is a fraud. Winner of 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and 1 Academy Award, The Music Man is a beloved piece of Americana that has been a theater and movie classic for over 50 years.
The production will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5 at Northland Church, a beautiful, 3,100-seat, state-of-the-art venue located at 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, FL 32750. Tickets are $10.00 each and children age 3 and under will be admitted for free. Proceeds from this performance will benefit local music programs.
