Brother's Can We Talk

New Directions Community Outreach, Inc, a non-profit organization, will be hosting "Brothers, Can We Talk?", a forum that will be made up of African American leaders from various communities that have embraced the challenge, and are willing to accept the responsibility, of cleaning up their neighborhoods, mentoring our youth and imparting their wisdom and experience. They will come together to discuss the following topics: Education - Mentoring - Youth - Health Awareness - Social Issues Parenting - Law Enforcement - Religion - Business - Finance. This forum will serve as a blue print for our African American males while providing them with resources to aid in their growth and development. This forum will take place in the historic District of Sanford where many of the speakers grew up. It will be open to the public and will contain a questions and answer portion as well. The activities begin at 10am on Saturday, November 3rd, at Harvest Time International and brunch will be served! The key note speaker of the event will be Alonzo Kelly, who is the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professional President! Other speakers will include Vernon Ford, Vernon McQueen, Britt Henderson, Allen Kilpatrick, Harry Douglas, Officer DeAnthony Shamar, and Forum Facilitator: Patrice Anderson.

For those of you who missed our Community Yard Sale back on Sept. 1, 2007, we had over sixteen booths! It was a great day for everyone. Well, we are having another one! This time we are looking for even more people to come out to set up a booth. We even want people that do arts and crafts for the holidays and more. You can also donate any new or used items that we will pick up to sell and raise money for children and families with physical and or mential disabilities. You can rent a 10 x 10 space for $15.00 to sell anything besides food or drinks. You can just come out for all the bargians too!

Suntree United Methodist Church's Christmas Bazaar

The 20th Annual Suntree United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3. Already signed up are community artists, crafts persons and cooks who will have booths offering Christmas crafts, attic treasures, oil and watercolor paintings, jewelry, doll clothes for American Girl dolls, photo albums and more. Also included will be a health and wellness area and a Kid's Korner - face painting, cookie decorating, storytelling, thumbprint art and pictures with Santa.

Hope Lutheran Church Dedication and Worship service

Hope Lutheran Church will hold a weekend of celebration, and worship as the church formally dedicates its New Church Mission Station. On Saturday, November 3, there will be a community open house from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, followed by a worship Service at 6PM. Members of the community are invited to attend and tour the building, meet the members and offer input to the congregation as to how the church can be of service in its new location. On Sunday, November 4, the church will hold its regular 9 AM Sunday worship service followed by a formal dedication service at 4PM Sunday Afternoon. Bishop Edward R. Walking On Water Surf Film Premier

Christian Surfers Daytona Beach hosts this much anticipated new surf film Walking On Water on Nov. 3 at the Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium. From the creators of The Outsiders and Noah's Arc, Walking On Water traces the journey of two young boys on the search for good waves and meaning in life. In this beautiful and inspiring film, the world becomes a classroom for the two main characters as they experience what most only dream about. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 7:30 p.m. Pro Surfers Jesse Hines, Cheyne Cottrell, Bryan Jennings and other surprise guest surfers will be in attendance. There is no charge to attend the film or a concert with Josh Garrells, Brad Corrigan and Jessica Mclean. Additionally, there will be a raffle drawing including a new surfboard and many other great items. After the film, there will be a meet and greet with pro surfers for autographs and photos. "The idea for the film had been in my mind for a long time," said Pro Surfer Bryan Jennings. "When I was fourteen, I went on my first surf trip and it had a huge impact on my life. Since then, I have always wanted to return the favor."
