Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32940 Open to the community as a public outreach, the local chapter of the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry is holding its 23rd annual banquet on Thursday, November 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Suntree United Methodist Church. The dinner honors over 100 volunteers actively involved in encouraging and supporting inmates at the Brevard County Jail. The barbecue dinner includes roast beef, turkey, beans, and coleslaw. A love offering will be taken to help support the Gospel ministry, a ministry completely funded through donations. The evening program includes interviews with current and former inmates, video clips about the ministry, information about recidivism rates and the impact the program has in Brevard County, and a new initiative for inmates called the Life Learning Program. The Good News Jail & Prison Ministry is a non-profit, worldwide organization established in 1980 that exists for the sole purpose of recruiting, equipping, encouraging and supporting Chaplains for ministry in jails and prisons nationally and internationally.
