Two beautiful days followed by some rain and cooler temps

The next two days will be beautiful.  Today we will enjoy mostly sunny skies with the high near 72.  Tuesday will start out with some patchy fog, but lots of sunshine by afternoon with a high of 75.  Tuesday night/Wednesday will be a time of transition as a low pressure center is forecast to develop in the western Gulf of Mexico.  This low will be dragging a cool front along with it and kick up the possibility of rain.  There is a slight chance of rain during the overnight (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) and a pretty big chance of showers and maybe even a thunderstorm on Wednesday.  Even with the close  proximity of the low as it passes to our north, the ingredients for severe thunderstorms looks meager.  Wednesday’s high will be 75.  Cool front pushes through bringing the rain to an end on Wednesday night and a decent day on Thursday with a high of 71.  A reinforcing shot of cold air moves in during the overnight (Thursday night/Friday morning) so even with lots of sun on Friday the high temperature will struggle to reach 61.  Next weekend will be slightly below normal from a temperature perspective with daytime highs in the 60s and overnight lows in the upper 30s/lower 40s.

Do The Christmas Lights Really Have To Come Down?

That is the question that my 9-year old son keeps asking.  ”Daddy, do the Christmas lights really have to come down?”  But I am running out of excuses.  The weather this weekend will be perfect to work outside and we are down to two houses on our street that are still decorated (and I suspect that our neighbors next door are leaving them up out of kindness for my son).  So I think I have a plan.  Outside lights come down this weekend.  Inside lights come down sometime before summer gets here.

Have a great weekend!

Hello to warmer weather!

After three days in the deep freeze, temperatures across Z Land will be warming up the next couple of days.  With high pressure sliding off to the east of Florida the winds will shift to a more southerly breeze bringing warmer days and a few more clouds.  The weekend looks amazing!  Enjoy. :-)

New year, new changes…

2012.  I can’t believe we are already to 2012.  Where did last year go?  The new year brings some changes to my life.  My very good friend and partner-in-crime on the afternoon show, Tracy Leek has made the move to mornings with Ellis and Tyler.  So you and I will be solo for a little while.  My 9-year-old (going on 20) Zachary is changing from a little boy into a fine young man right before my very eyes.  They say that change is good, but I still struggle with it.  My prayer for 2012 is that God continues to guide my every step as I navigate through the changes in my life and that HE continues to draw my son unto Himself.

In the future I will be using this space to talk about one of my big passions…weather.  If you want Deano’s perspective on the forecast, it will be here.  If the possibility of severe weather is coming our way, I’ll be taking about it here.  And from time to time I’ll share what is going on in my life.  Maybe sharing a part of my journey will give you some peace that you aren’t the only one walking “that same road.”

Welcome to 2012!
