Carol started at Z88.3 as an intern in the promotions department upon graduating high school during the summer of 2002. She then left for a short break to attend Florida State University, where she majored in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. She graduated in May of 2005, and returned to Z88.3 as their full time Promotions Director. During her time in Tallahassee (Go Seminoles!:), she also had the opportunity to help launch a new Christian radio station, WAYT, which was part of the WAY-FM network.
Carol’s work in promotions was recognized with the very first Echo Award for Promotions Director of the Year in 2009, and she has been featured in Radio & Records magazine. She has had the honor of speaking on the topic of promotions at several industry conferences such as GMA Music Week and Momentum, as well as having the opportunity to be on the planning committee for the Momentum conference. Carol has also been involved in putting together entries that won Z88.3 six different Christian Music Broadcasters’ Station of the Year awards as well as being named a finalist twice for Religious Station of the Year for the National Association of Broadcasters.
Carol married her wonderful, amazing husband, Andrew Ellingson in 2010. It was definitely a promotional event to remember with Z logos included! Jim Hoge, President of Z88.3, is still asking how he got out of paying for the event;) They met at Ghiradelli at Downtown Disney after seeing a movie with their church group. Andrew asked if she was the Promotions Director at Z88.3 and Carol asked if he was a stalker, and the rest is history! Carol is known to friends and family as the resident foodie and of course travel agent. She can recommend restaurants and itineraries like there is no tomorrow. Her Facebook page is filled with many (we mean thousands) pictures of the Ellingson foodie adventures! She loves planning events, loves her job, loves life and most of all LOVES God. That pretty much sums up this ridiculous ball of energy that everyone knows as Promo Girl Carol!
