Woman of the Week for 08/20/2012: Casandra Paugh

Nominated by: Roberta Duval

This past summer, Casandra’s family has been under attack. She has spent nearly 40 days between two different hospitals and a meriad of doctors appointments struggling with the illnesses of her son and husband. Her testimonies on Facebook are INCREDIBLE – always uplifting the Lord and singing his praises. I know she has been a tremendous blessing to those who have the priviledge of calling her “friend” as she is such an awesome example of what God expects of us as we traverse through the trials and tribulations this life has to offer. To quote her most recent post “JOY unspeakable can be obtained from only HIM!!”

I know that she was a blessing to many while in the hospital as well. She would be found singing uplifting praises to anyone who had an ear to hear and witnessed or prayed for many while her own husband while struggling.

What an amazing Woman of God and true example of Christian faith.

Please consider her for the Woman fo the Week – she so deserves it!

Woman of the Week for 04/08/2013: Sarah Guthrie

Nominated by: Madison Guthrie

My Mom is truly a blessing in my life. She is an inspiration and dose everything she can to help support my dreams, and the dreams of my brother. She always has a smile on her face and always knows how to cheer me up. I come to my mom with everything, and she is my best friend. She strives every day to be a Godly woman and set an example for me. Last year she lost her mom to caner, my grandma was a beautiful woman with a heart-warming smile. She was so strong and never complained. She had brain, lung, and jaw cancer on both sides. Now she is in heaven where she can smile on my momma and our family. My mom should be the woman of the week because not only dose she a have a beautiful heart, but she will always help others before herself, and she never complains. I really want my mom to be recognized for how much she dose and how much of a blessing she is toward our family and me. I love you mom. Thank you for believing in me, and for teaching me how to be a Godly woman.

Woman of the Week for 06/28/2012: Lisa Wilson

Nominated by: John Wilson

My two preschool boys and I moved in with my parents two years ago when my marriage broke down and my Mom has been AWESOME. None more so, however than last month. We were looking forward to Spring Break, when I got a high fever. I spent five days in the hospital, culminating in gallbladder surgery. During that week my three year old son got the flu and then a horrible ear infection, the air conditioner broke, my 93-year old grandmother got sick, and the dog broke through the electric fence and got picked up by animal control. In the week after, my three year-old had surgery to replace his ear tubes, grandma hurt her leg, my sister’s beloved cat was attacked by two stray dogs and killed, my aunt got laid off, and the dog got a ticket for being “unrestrained.” Through it all, my mother remained cool, calm, and collected and even kept up her women’s ministry newsletter. She simply relied on her trust in the Lord to bring us all through “the mess.” I don’t know how she keeps so many balls in the air at the same time, but her faith in the Lord defies gravity.

Woman of the Week for 07/04/2012: Ana Santana

Nominated by: Izaya Merzoian

Well if I had to choose one story it would be, my dad had just left us and she had no money and we a brand new Honda accura. We owed money and they were going to repo it so every day we would have to hide it in the neiborhoods next to ours. And I remember every day is praying before we ate. I can’t even tell you how many nights she went to bed hungry because we were so tight for money that all we had was tuna and she would go to bed hungry because she wouldn’t let is go to bed hungry. But even through all that she was always positive and she would wake me and my brother up everyday with quoted from the bible she would never get discouraged. I just feel from my point of view that she very much deserves to be women of the week.

Woman of the Week for 09/24/2012: Veda Ashberry

Nominated by: Sonia Drehman

My moma started taking me to church at a very early age. She has always been a big support in my life. She has always been my best friend. A couple of years ago, God gave me the opportunity to have four children placed in my care. It was a big adjustment in my life. She has loved every minute of being Granny Be to my children. She has always taught us all about God. She has spent many hours praying for her family to be the best we can. I am her only child. However, I cannot remember ever being the only child in our house. We always had other kids in our house. Recently, I have started going through a divorce. I don’t know the nights that I have fallen asleep in my talking to my Moma. She is a knowledgable women in my opinion. She is also my sounding board about my job and just life in general. My Moma is my rock in a very confusing world. Thank you Moma for being you. I love you very much.

Woman of the Week for 06/11/2014: Daniel Johnson

He loves to play volleyball and is also a basketball fanatic who loves the Miami heat. I love him so much and hope that he can have a good Father’s Day, and that god may be with him in everything he does and for god to guide and protect him always. He is the true super dad!

Woman of the Week for 08/21/2012: Helen and DeeDee Taylor

Nominated by: Jean Seixas Milner

I don’t know if this is possible, but I’d like to nominate TWO WOMEN at the same time for WOW. Their names are Helen Taylor and DeeDee Taylor. They are mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. We are all members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Leesburg, FL.
Miss Helen and DeeDee are faithful followers of Christ and their faith is exhibited in their walks with Him. They are loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, gentle, kind, generous, self-controlled Christians who devote themselves to His service on a daily, hourly, minute by minute basis’.
I can’t say enough good about them, but they know each other very, very well. Is it likely that y’all could call Miss Helen and tell her that DeeDee has been nominated for WOW and the she has been suggested as one from whom Z88 could learn about DeeDee? Would you call DeeDee and tell her the same about Miss Helen? Could you announce them on the same day, at the same time? Wouldn’t that be an interesting event for them to hear the other praising them?
This nominator wishes to remain anonymous, has already nominated two Women of the Week and has a few more who more than qualify and, I’ve also won the Name Game with my daughter, Ashley.
Z88 is a blessing to me. My day is miserable without the Z on my home radio and I listen to little else but Z in my car. The songs of praise and worship and the message of Salvation through Christ raise me up. I thank you all for what you do.
Helen Taylor, Eusits, FL 352-483-7401
DeeDee Taylor, Eustis, FL 352-357-1448
Thank you, GOD bless you,
Jean Seixas Milner

Migdalia “Didy” Rios is an amazing Puertorican woman who loves God and life with all her heart. She is a school teacher for over 30 years and is actively involved in her church. She was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago and consequently underwent bilateral mastectomy. She inspires me because not only did she fight and conquor into remission but she helps others to do the same through education & support. She is often invited by organizations to speak about Breast Cancer Awareness and she actively participates in related events. She also created an event called “Caminata Contra El Cancer” (Walk Against Cancer) which takes place October 21, 2012 at 8:00 at the UCF Arena. Every year during the month of October she is actively involved in promoting Breast Cancer Awareness in many ways. Also, everyday in October she wears pink clothes & accessories. Usually during events you’ll even see her wearing a bright pink wig and pink bra on top of her outfit. She is a happy lady praising God for conquering this battle for her and allowing her the opportunity to share His love through her testimony and education. She truely is amazing and I strongly feel she deserves to be recognized.

Woman of the Week for 09/19/2012: Erin Spaulding

Nominated by: Jacki Wolfe

Dr. Erin is a doctor with a passion for women and babies. I think the best way to describe her is to say that she EMPOWERS her patients to live well and (by her example) encourages others to live for God. When I first met her she told me of a hard life experience she went through. She said to me “If I wasn’t a Christian I don’t think I would have made it through.” That was the first time that she told me that she was a believer, but I already knew by the way she radiates the joy of Christ in everything she says and does. After my baby was born in April he lost more weight than normal and I was very worried. She reassured me and gave me several suggestions that really helped, and now my son is a very healthy, happy baby who loves seeing Dr. Erin! She uses her God-given talents to minister to and uplift her patients – every time I leave her office I feel like my spirits have been lifted. She is truly an example of the good works Christ can do in a person!

My sister Judith was first diagnosed in January 2011. She is my youngest sister of 6. She underwent 3 surgeries until she was finally in the clear to start her kemo. Through it all, she has maitained a very positive attitude, her faith was so great I can’t even describe it in words. While we were both caring for our ill father of 92 yrs of age, she some how managed to put her own life on hold and took great care of our father. She is a strong believer and knows that God is in control of everything! Judy is the kind of person that will do almost anything for anyone. She doesn’t think about it twice. She has a HUGE heart, she is a selfless person, and gives of herself to anyone in need, no matter what. I Thank God for her everyday, and while she is going throuigh remision, I have faith that she has already won this battle.

God bless my little Sister Judy :)

And while visiting you, make you a blanket on the whim or if she doesn’t make you something, she will be in a store getting it for you! I wanna show her and let her know her family is 100% behind her like she is with us! She is a strong woman who has lost her mom within 8 months of knowing she was sick to have a preemie grandson! Now it is time for me/us to show her how strong and loved she is! It would be an honor to show her this in this way, since I live in FL and can’t be there everyday but she is in my heart!

Woman of the Week for 10/01/2012: Gladys Campos

Nominated by: Joanna Pajares

My late aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 90′s. In 1991 she had a mastectomy and became a breast cancer survivor. Unfortunately in 2008 she passed away after the cancer came back in her lungs and spread everywhere, ending her long on-and-off 17 year long battle with cancer. Today actually, has been exactly four years since we laid her to rest. If there is one thing that touched me the most about her during her funeral was when my mom told me about a woman from her church that was in need once and without notice my aunt came to her door with hands full of grocery bags. The woman said she would never forget her. That said everything about her to me. She was that kind of woman that even when she was in need, even when she didn’t have money, even when she battled terminal cancer she was the one to always give, to make everyone laugh, to be the first one to dance, to be early at the bus stop so that when I get out I wouldn’t have to walk home, to pick my sister and I up on weekends to go out while my parents were working, to take friends and other churchgoers to doctor appointments when they had no else to give them a ride, and best of all the first to give praise and all glory to God despite how sick she felt. She lost the physical battle but she beat it in spirit.

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2012: Magda Denizard

Nominated by: Karla Ufret

My hero (mom) was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 2010. I want to nominate her as woman of the week but she is the most courageous, loving, selfless woman I have ever met. From the day she was diagnosed until now, she knew God allowed her to go through this because she was strong and she had a testimony to give to others. She never complained throughout the doctor visits, the chemo’s, the surgery’s. She stood strong and kept everyone around her strong. She was OUR rock throughout this entire ordeal and she was the one going through it. She made sure she would have chemo treatments on certain days just so she was able to watch my 2 toddlers. IS THAT incredible or what?!!?!? She wanted to make sure everyone was alright and not saddened by the situation because she knew the Lord had bigger plans than this cancer, she knew her story will touch others and bring them closer to God, in which a few of her siblings turned to Christ because of her and her situation. She is strong like no one I’ve ever seen. She is a believer and she loves our almighty God. She deserves nothing but happiness, and after a year of battling I am so happy to state she is 100% cancer free!! God is great!

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2012: Dorie Preston

Nominated by: Leah Jones

Dorie is an amazing woman of God! About a couple of years ago she almost lost her life.in a near fatal motorcycle accident along with her husband. At that time they were not strong Christians. Their love for.each other has always been unwavering. Dorie was in a coma for.quite.some time and throughout that ordeal, together, they have found God and given their lives totally a.d completely to Him and His service. For over a year now they have stood on the word of God and prayed for healing. The word says we are.to walk by faith and not by sight. They do that. They are such lights for the glory of God. They trust in Him with all their hearts and say they are ready to walk whatever path he chooses for them. They never complain but still manage to find joy in life everyday. Truly they are a model for the way we all should live our lives. They are a true inspiration to us all. She is definately ofighting a good fight. We love her dearly and we all pray that God, for whom nothing is impossible, will choose to bless her with totalitarian healing so she and her husband, Mike can continue on being lights and inspiration for many more. We,as a family could not be prouder of her and Mike, and we could not be more grate’ful or thankful for their wonderful home church, the congregation and all the family and friends who have c”ome forward to love them.

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2012: Barbara Sargent

Nominated by: Stephanie Metzler

She is such a tender and sweet woman who has had to learn how to be strong at a very young age. Her brother is mentally retarded and she has always helped her parents take care of him.

She had rough pregnancies; one lead to toxemia and one was very premature but she (along with her loving husband) has raised 3 children to love God and respect others; one is a preschool teacher at a local Christian school, one is the kind wife of a U.S. Airman and the son is changing the dynamic of a local traditional church by taking leadership in a new worship band for a contemporary service. They love her for being a good mother with values and rules and an endless supply of warmth.

In 2010, she was diagnosed with an aggressive, stage 2 breast cancer at a young age. The doctors suggested a mastectomy which is hard for a woman to swallow. Thankfully, God led her to agree to a double mastectomy and you cannot imagine the terror and relief that hit our family when the doctors found cancer in her other breast, undetected by all of the equipment. After chemo and radiation, a year later, she was given a clean bill of health and she praises God everyday for the new way life appears; it is clearer, better. brighter. She has discovered a new reality to her strength and faith that only exists because God allows it.

She left a very high paying, high stress job and trusted her unknown future to her great God by totally putting her career on the line and He blessed, like he always does, with a better job who succeeded her pay and benefits. “Life is too short to not love what you do”, she says.

She loves her 2 grandchildren and now notices the little “something’s” that she’s been missing; Little gifts in each day, from her Creator, who continually keeps her safe in His arms.

Woman of the Week for 10/06/2012: Sonia Nevarro-Milano

She posts encouraging reports and Bible verses on her facebook often. Her sweet strong husband Carlos is fighting the fight with her and he shaved his head when she started losing her hair. She has a strong, calm, grateful and kind spirit. I know God will use them to encourage so many people. My parents and I love her and Carlos very much and consider them our family.

Woman of the Week for 10/07/2012: Deborah Wells

Nominated by: Rebekah Richards

My mom is a single mother of three and she got diagnosed with breast cancer March of 2012. She is the biggest fighter I have ever seen. She has had many struggles through this whole experience, especially with finances; she is trying to support her kids while trying to deal with work and all of her doctor appointments. This has been an emotional time for her but everyone has been by her side, especially God. She has kept her faith strong and this is what has gotten her through it! She is the most amazing mom anyone can ask for even though we don’t show it all the time and I just want her to know that! I’m so glad she is cancer free now and I thank God for her everyday!

Woman of the Week for 10/07/2012: Debbie Lawyer

Nominated by: Melanie Gassert

Debi had breast cancer in one breast and went through chemo, then had it again about a year later in the other. She fought through chemo while raising a family 2 amazing teenagers, and helping her husband run a family business, taking care of her failing mom and dad, both in which have now passed and then I have been a friend of hers for nearly 20 years and my husband in whom I have been married to for nearly 30 years was diagnosed with stomach cancer, he fought it for nearly 7 months but lost the battle here but won his reward in heaven. My friend Debi while being sick and recovering has been a great friend to me while I lost my husband.
She never gave up, on herself and the fight to win and become a survivor. She is a winner in Christ and through Christi. She is a giver in all whom she meets.
She has faith and has kept the faith. What a true example she is.

Woman of the Week for 12/20/2012: Janet Cooley

Nominated by: Phillip Gibson

After my Grandfather died this year, she became my fraternal Grandmother. She has many “Grandchildren” at my church in whom she deeply loves and cares for. One of the ways she cares for us is whenever we want to, she invites us to her house and we spend the entire day baking and laughing. She has been doing this for a very long time and will keep doing so until the day she dies, she is a very Godly woman and Grandmother.

She started Chemo last Thursday at M.D. Anderson. Prognosis is good they tell us. She says she still has work to do and even today was sharing Christ with a neighbor. I am blessed by her courage and steadfast trust and faith in our Lord & Savior. Please consider recognizing my beautiful & courageous mother.

Woman of the Week for 10/11/2012: Karen Long

Nominated by: Jennifer Williamson

Karen and I are both Orlando Police Officers and we were hired around the same time. Karen is such an inspiration. I have never seen Karen in a bad mood or upset with anyone, which is a noble feat for a police officer. Karen has a spirit like no one I have every been around. Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, right after she married the love her life another Orlando Police Officer, William Long.

Karen had a double masectomy, endured tough rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation. Karen perservered she worked when she could in a light duty status and eventually returned to full duty. Karen looked great, continued with her running and exercise. She completed the Marine Corp Marathon. She had Beaten Cancer and we were all so happy.

Then this year just before she reached her 5 year cancer free mark, she thought she had a cold that was lingering went to the doctor and had a scan which came back showing something suspicious in her lungs. She was not worried because it very well could be from the virus but she went ahead and ordered a PET Scan to make sure. Well, the scan showed something in the lungs as her thoracic cavity. A biopsy was done and unfortunately it revealed that Karen’s breast cancer from 2007 had come back and had metastasized in her lungs and sternum. . Karen told her close friends she had Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

Karen has unbelievable strength, the news that would of devastated most she took in and then she didn’t hang her head, she did what cops do they fight evil and she began to wage a WAR. Karen took on her cancer head first. Karen’s favorite bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know what I have planned for you, says the Lord. I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.”

Karen blogs about her journed at www.williamandkaren.com.

I took this from her blog. ” Though I know that God’s got this, I also believe that God has given us the ability to help ourselves. With that being said, I have done some research and found that in Germany, they have a hyperthermal treatment that has been shown to be effective against cancer. Unfortunately this treatment has not been approved by the FDA here in the U.S. and is only in limited clinical trials here. In order for me to try to save my life I will need to go to Germany.”

Karen left for Germany on September 4 and endured weeks of excruciating treatments. 2 different times her body was heated to 103 degrees for a duration of 2 hours. Karen’s co-workers, the community, and her family raised money for her to be able to get these treatments. The fundraising effort was named, “Turning up the heat against cancer.”

Karen had such a great spirit she endured 6 days of treatment for 3 weeks in Germany. On a Sunday her day off she walked by a 5k sign up in Germany and in true Karen style she and her husband signed up and finished all while undergoing cancer treatments. Karen is amazing and a warrior. Karen is fighting for her life and with GOD SHE WILL WIN!

Woman of the Week for 10/21/2012: Yolanda Hawkins

Nominated by: LaDawn Townsend

My sister was diagnoised with breast cancer in December 2011 at the age of 24 years old. This doesnt run in our family and she had moved to Arizona a few years earlier to go to school and start a new life. My sister has handled this like a true champion after going through a partial mastecomy and chemo treatments. I know you probably hae many letters that come in and I would just ask if my sister could receive a small gift for encouragement I would apprecite it.

Woman of the Week for 10/23/2012: Cheryl Cope

Nominated by: Rebecca Darling

Cheryl is one of the most amazing woman of God that I have ever met. She can encourage you and make you feel loved, with something as simple as a gentle hug. She tells it like it is, and when she compliments you, she means it. Cheryl discovered a lump in her breast 6 years ago and was delivered those two horrible words that any doctor can utter, “Breast Cancer.” Through it all, she held steadfast to her faith and the word. Although she had routine exams, this mass was only detectable through ultrasound. Even in such a tough time, she opened up and told her story to encourage others who were going through the same thing. Ultimately, she overcame the illness thanks to the surgeon and countless prayers. She probably cannot comprehend how much she means to me, and so many others that she encourages every day. It is for this reason that I am nominating Cheryl for Woman of the Week.

Woman of the Week for 10/29/2012: JoElle Marlow

Nominated by: Peni Gray

My beautiful daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer exactly 20 years after she was diagnosed with Euwings Sarcoma, a long bone cancer of teens and young adults. That took her high school years away from her, going thru chemo and surgeries. Now she has 2 little boys, 3 & 6, that she will live to see become men. I work full time but try to be with them and do what I can, but it’s difficult for her caring for them and the house alone. She’s had a double mastectomy and gone thru chemo, now she waiting to have reconstructive surgery. The Doctors won’t do that until her divorce is final and her body, mind and spirit are pristene. That won’t be until next year. In the mean time he is being mean, disrespectful and thoughtless. I love her so much and we have been thru so much together. We pray for Gods protection and healing touch.

Woman of the Week for 11/13/2012: Robin Devenport

Nominated by: Tina Chargui

I met Robin about 13 years ago while working at a doctor’s office. Then discovered I was dating and later married one of her friends. She is an awesome woman who loves our Lord and Saviour with all of her heart. She is currenty in nursing school, married and has raised 3 beautiful children who are all in college, as well as takes care of her Grandmother who she relocated from New Orleans after surviving Hurricane Katrina. Recently she underwent surgery for thyroid cancer, which praise God was blessed to be saved from. She is the most amazing woman that I have ever met. Caring, kind, fun loving, giving doesn’t even begin to describe how awesome she is. She is a quiet, somewhat shy, beautiful woman who i feel should be honored as your Woman of the Week on the Z88.3 morning show. Thank you

Woman of the Week for 12/09/2012: Lorna Merklinger

Nominated by: Scott Merklinger

Lorna Merklinger retired this week after nearly 32 years of teaching middle school – many of them in a dropout prevention program. I’ve grown used to seeing current and former students everywhere we go coming up, saying “hi”, and hugging her. But Friday night we were at the Eustis street fest and two student came up talking about how much they miss her already. It’s a strange thing seeing a middle school student halfway between tears and laughter. For 32 years she has really cared for these students – during a bout with cancer, through nearly losing our son at birth, even through grading 4,927 essay in one weekend. (I might be exaggerating a little there.) I am so incredibly grateful and blessed by God that she will now be home and dedicated full-time to being our family’s woman of every week.

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2013: Tracey Ternent

Nominated by: John Ternent

Tracey was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27, six months after giving birth to our daughter, Emily. As a survivor for 16 years, she has kept her enthusiasm and her faith through many physical and emotional challenges. She is always willing to share her story of survival and its effect on her faith with those who are struggling with similar illnesses. Through it all, she has been wife, mother, nurse, and teacher without missing a beat!

Woman of the Week for 12/20/2012: Debbie English

Nominated by: Gretchen Stopyra

My mom is an amazing woman! She is a born teacher. Even before she began her career as a teacher when I was in elementary school she was teaching. Teaching us about Jesus love was very important to her and she not only taught us but had Bible Studies for the children in our neighborhood. I know of at least two families who came to Jesus because of the Bible study she taught in the apartment complex when our family first moved to Florida in 1980.

Later an opportunity opened for her to teach at the elementary school my brother and I attended. While we were in a public school forum my mother still finds ways to bring the love of Jesus to her students each and every day. She has been teaching as a public school teacher for over 25 years at Pine Castle Elementary School and at Walker Middle School in the Pine Castle community. It is rare to go out with my mom and not have a former student or parent of a former student come up to my mom. When I was at the precinct voting at the recent presidential election I ran into a woman and we began talking about education. Shortly into our conversation I was amazed to discover that my mother had taught her children!

One amazing thing that my mom does for her students is that she has a money system in her classroom where her students earn fake money based on their performance in class. It’s set up to model the way we deal with money in real life on a daily basis. Each year she runs a Christmas store for her students, it’s a real ministry to her students who otherwise could not afford to buy presents for their friends and family. She spends the year going to thrift stores, garage sales, and hitting sales at regular stores to find treasures for her students. In addition to her Christmas store she sells things that the kids need in their real life as students, pencils, papers, notebooks, etc.

One student told her that he bought all of his school supplies for himself and his siblings at her store to save his parents the money because they needed it and by doing well in her class and shopping in her store he could help his parents out.

I’ve heard so many stories of how my mom has blessed students over the years. I would say over the past 25 plus years she has had the pleasure of teaching over 1400 students. That’s over 1400 students and their families who have been covered in prayer. 1400 students who have been loved and taught important life lessons. The best thing is that even students from the past continued to be covered in prayer. I myself am a teacher and I’ve had the honor of teaching some of her previous students and sometimes we are able to pray for these children and thier families together.

Mom, I love you. Thank you for being an amazing mom and thank you for helping me to become an amazing teacher. We both know that teaching is our mission field and that our children in our rooms are loved by you and that you allow us the pleasure of loving them for you.

Woman of the Week for 01/13/2013: Debbie English

Nominated by: Hannah English

My mom is like Job. A lot of things have happened to her. She never gave up on God. Our house was flooded and the roof was caving in but she never gave up on her Heavenly Father. She is a single mom with six kids. She also was diagnosed with skin cancer and God cured her.

Woman of the Week for 01/13/2013: Ann Lenart

Nominated by: Jessica Lenart-Shal

My mother is always there for her friends and family no matter what. She begins everyday waking up and reading bible. If one of her friends cars break down or needs help getting to the grocery store because they’re too old and can’t drive she’ll go pick them up and help. She makes sure to thank God for everything and tells her friends about the bible. She might not do anything super amazing like saving someone or doing something others would find amazing, but she’s always there especially when I need her. Helping me whenever I got sick especially when I was younger I’d be sick 70% of my school year and she’d stay up all through the night making sure I was alright. I had what she’d call the double cough where I would be coughing multiple times in a row to the point where I couldn’t breathe. She’d try her best to make sure I was comfortable or that I could breathe. She’s the best woman to me and my hero. When I grow up I want to be just like her. She makes sure to tell me things she wish she could change. So I can grow up to be a better person and to learn lessons she had to the hard way. Everytime I’m afraid she tells me not to worry because she’a got my back and so does God. I use to be scared of dying, if someone talked about it i would get terrible panic attacks, and if heaven was real or not. She always told me don’t worry it’s a real place trust me. God loves you and I love you but he loves you more than you could ever imagine. He is always watching over you and everyone else to always protect you.

Woman of the Week for 01/16/2013: Michelle Jenkins

Nominated by: Wayne Jenkins

Nominating your wife may be biased but I am.
Michelle my wife is one of the most extrodinary women I know. She devotes her time to two diffrent groups that are close to her heart. 1) The down syndrome group of Volusia County and Operation Cares 4 R troops. She does all this with a open and caring heart and a dedication that is unmatched. I forgot to mention she is a full time mom to our three little girls ages 11,10,5 her most precious job of all. I have never met any one that is more dedicated to her family and devoted to the causes close to her heart

Woman of the Week for 01/22/2013: Laura Lee Wright

Nominated by: Linda Starnes

Laura Lee Wright was the director of Access Ministries at Northland Church, where she started and grew our church’s intentional inclusion of persons with disabilities and their families within the life of our congregation. She is the finest of women, dedicating her life’s work to services, supports, and inclusion of those with disabilities in the community, and for the past five years specifically within the faith community. Her work reached across Central Florida and beyond in developing partnerships with others in the faith and disability field to strengthen the welcome and hospitality at Northland Church. Her work also provided encouragement to other places of worship to build their inclusive efforts. But as happens with God’s greater plan, Laura Lee has the opportunity to work at a broader reach on behalf of those with disabilities, and moved just last week to a new position. She will be greatly missed, but her touch in my life and that of my family, and so many other families, will never be forgotten. Laura Lee, as you celebrate your 50th birthday this Thursday, Jan. 24 at your new home and place of work, we wish you all of God’s blessings. We miss you dear friend!

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2013: Brienne Robertson

Nominated by: David Meusel

My wife Brienne and I were engaged at the time when she found a lump and it turned out to be triple positive for Stage 2 breast cancer. She found the lump just days after her mother Beth, also with breast cancer, finished her last radiation treatment. She’s had a double mastectomy and chemo. We were married on 5/26/13, just before her 2nd chemo. Through it all, she remains strong in faith and a testimony to me and our four children. In spite of losing her grandmother to breast cancer at 52, and her little sister 8 yrs ago at 32, both she and her mother inspire us all through their faith and testimony that can only come from Our Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ. She truly inspire everyone around her. She is more than a hero. She is more than a fighter. She is a testimony of faith and inspiration. Her father (a pastor) and I are both blessed to be married to such amazing women. She and her mother were recently interviewed by Barbara Beck for the Good Life TV45 breast cancer awareness series. Watch it..and you will see what we see.

Woman of the Week for 01/27/2013: Dorris Kipe

Nominated by: Logan Johnson

There are too many to simple tell one story about this amazing woman she raised 11 children on her own after her husband cheated on her multiple times. She had twelve children and one died in a house fire they had when he was 2. She almost lost her children to foster care but worked nights and was mom at day in order to keep her children. She said she would not get married again until all her children had because no one would love her children like she did. She has battled heart attack, cancer, lots of other health issues. You would think she would be a bitter woman but NO she is the sweetest woman you will ever meet. Every person who comes in contact with her is effected and loves her. There is no one else I know more deserving of this. I admire her SO much, the faith and love she has. She always sees everything as Gods plan for her good and his glory.

Woman of the Week for 01/30/2013: Maura Chandler

Nominated by: Ashley Plate

As principal of Family Christian Center School, Maura could easily focus on the bottom line alone. However, she is dedicated and committed not only to the school and our students, but to all of us teachers as well, loving us as sisters and setting the example for servant leadership. I have worked under many principals, and none has ever shown the kind of commitment to Christ in her job as Maura does on a daily basis. She has recently dealt with many obstacles facing our school, and with much illness in her family, all the while remaining godly and graceful as a leader. No matter what Maura is dealing with in her personal life, she will always stop and give her full attention to a teacher or student in need, and has become an extraordinary mentor to me personally. She is an excellent example of what a true follower of Christ should look like, and I am so blessed to call her not only my boss, but my friend.

Woman of the Week for 01/30/2013: Laurali Waldmiller

Nominated by: Caitlin Waldmiller

My mother has alway been there for me. We going running and do volunteer work together. We are running buddies and we do races at Disney world and around the community. She is my rock, and a shoulder to cry on. Most importantly she is caring and supportive. Recently, (Sunday January 27, 2013) we went running so that we could be ready for the princess half marathon at Disney on February 24. Well, I rolled my right ankle and was filled with pain and disappointment. She took me to the emergency room that night and sat there with me throughout the doctor appointment. I felt bad because I don’t like her using her money on me especially since we are in a very tough financial place. She had to make sure I was okay. I have been on crutches till today (Wednesday January 30) when she took me to the orthopedic. I had severely sprained my ankle and pulled 90% of the ligaments in my leg. Well I got notice today that I probably won’t be strong enough to do the princess half and my mom knew I was disappointed. So in all this cauose my mom has been there. She has taken care of me. I am so happy to have a mother like her. I can’t wait to cheer we on at the princess half marathon this year at the finish line( if I dot walk it a little). Thank you for always being there for me. 2012 was tough for me and you but we became closer then ever and I love and appreciate everything that you do. Love you.

Woman of the Week for 02/01/2013: Alicia Parker

Nominated by: Elizabeth Allen

In May of 2012 I gave birth to my beautfiul firstborn son. He was immediately diagnosed with Downs Syndrome. We spend 2 weeks in the hospital and my sister was there for me every step of the way. In December he had to have open heart surgery. I could not have gotten through these past few months without her. Everytime I called her, she picked up the phone, even when she was in an important meeting with bigwigs. She listened to me cry, she prayed with me, she would text me multiple Bible verses to help me get through the days. She always encouraged me. We are now in a Beth Moore Bible study together and are speaking next weekend about God’s Grace in our lives. I’m so excited to have her as my sister, we are sisters by blood, sisters in Christ, sisters as mothers of boys with special needs. It’s been an amazing journey. Even with her tough and stressful job, she always puts Christ first. She’s always ready to pray with anyone and knows Who is really in control. She’s an example of purity, gracefullness, kindness and what it means to be a Christian woman. I love her so much and am so proud to call her Sister.

Woman of the Week for 02/03/2013: Linda Henderson

Nominated by: Erica Walker

There are not enough words to adequately describe who Linda is and why I admire her so much but those of us who know her are indeed blessed. Linda’s love of Jesus permeates every aspect of her life and is so evident in how she serves and cares for others. Within minutes of meeting her for the first time you will feel like you have just made a lifelong friend. You won’t realize the many responsibilities and challenges she faces daily. She will focus on you and make you feel like you are her only concern. Over the last three years my husband and I went through the process of adopting our little girl. It was a time filled with many ups and downs. It was during the difficult times that I was blessed with my friend’s faithfulness. Whether listening to me, holding my hand in silence, crying with me or praying for me, Linda was always there. Always extending love, grace and compassion. While we have shared many tears together, we have also shared laughter to the point of tears. Linda is fun to be with and has a great sense of humor. She is an amazing woman and I am blessed to call her my best friend. I am so thankful for her and I love her very much.

Woman of the Week for 02/06/2013: Phyllis Johnson-Mabery

Nominated by: Leander Mabery

Two years ago I was dignosed with Prostate Cancer in Sept. 2011. We were devestated, My wife had to pick up the load financially and care for me, take me to Doctor appointments and encourage me to fight as she put it to live. She never lost hope, when our situation seems hopeless. I remember an incident when the bills came in and she looked at them and said, how are we going to pay them? I was out of work for several months and she works for a Non Profit Ministry. I remember saying as the tubes were hanging out of me, I can’t help you, She said We will pay what we can and speak to the others ones we can’t. I said just make sure the untilies don’t get shut off. She said that won’t happen. She alid the wills on the table and said Lord, I we can’t do this without you. That gave me the strength to, do whatever I had to do to recover. She is a strong, giving and caring Christian woman and never gives herself enough credit. She listens to others, helps, encourages and anyone that knows her, would say the same. She keeps me going, give others hope through her place of employment. No matter how hardtimes have gotten for us, she just kept going. My wife is the woman of the year to me and so many others. Recently our Granddaughter Chanel was given to us, temporary custody, 3 yrs of age with Autisim, which is chanllenging in itself at times, but it’s been over a year now and my wife took it on, full force. After a year of Speach therapies, Play therapies, and my wifes constant care and guidance, Chanel now has a voice. Phyllis is a incredible person, always gives, listens, cares and finds the time to help others. I would just like to see your get the praise she so deserves for being a beautiful person, Mother, wife, employee and grandma. She is truly Gods gift to me and others.

Woman of the Week for 02/11/2013: Jennifer Johnston

Nominated by: Ben Johnston

Jen and I are coming up on our 3 year wedding anniversary and she has always been an inspiration to me as to how she treats others and has such a big heart. Jen is a 2nd Grade teacher at Highlands Elementary and her class this year has really shown me just how much she cares for them and their education. She goes in early and stays late and she finds ways for each and every child to learn and grow in their own way. I will go and volunteer in the classroom and when she is talking they are hanging on every word that she says. She truly deserves some recognition for what she is doing with the lives of these young children and what she has done in my life by making me a better man and husband. She is my women of the week every week and I hope this can tell you a little bit of the reasons why.

Thank you,
Ben Johnston

Woman of the Week for 02/12/2013: Tammy Schake

Nominated by: Robyn Anderson

I met Tammy in 2005 when my family started attending church. Shortly after that she contracted Lyme disease. Although she has some good days and many bad days, the smile on her face is consistent. While battling Lyme disease, she and her husband started a new church in Flagler county. She is there early every Sunday morning to encourage all volunteers, it is truly hard to tell if she is in pain that day because she is so full of joy that it pours out of her. Some days her pain is so severe she can’t get out of bed, however the next day she could be caught in a downpour struggling to hold her cane and open her umbrella but she will take every opportunity to help another family stuck in the rain. Along with raising her 4 amazing children, she also takes my daughter to and from school. Her family is such a positive influence in my daughter’s life, I am so thankful that God has blessed our family with her! She is an incredible woman!!

Woman of the Week for 02/26/2013: Tania Diaz

Nominated by: Ines Vilar

The woman I’d like to nominate is Tania Diaz, the Pastor’s wife for “Casa de Oracion Internacional’ or “House of prayer International” in Apopka. Tania has literally been “Jesus-with-Skin-On” for me this last 6 weeks, and I am not even a member of her church!

She, to me, personifies what The Bible talks about regrading “binding the brokenhearted, giving sight to the blind, giving hope to the hopeless,” and the way she manages to be a wife, mom, pastor’s wife, and minister of God’s healing ministry is amazing, & inspiring to me! She manages her home, children, church, jail ministry and being a true shepherd, and I literally owe her my life! And, I am not even a member of her church. She is amazing as she “walks the walk,” and doesn’t just “talk the talk.”

I hope you consider this amazing woman for your woman-of-the-week, as I know of no other woman that is more deserving.

Thank you so much for your consideration of this nomination.

Woman of the Week for 03/05/2013: Michelle Lucey

Nominated by: Patricia Buchanan

Michelle is a Blessing to my family and myself. I am a single mom of 4 and recently had to move at the last minute for the safety of my children. Michelle coordinated everything, She found the apartment, found some friends to loan us a trailer and their time. She moved me and the kids in one day! Since then she has worked with me on budgeting, she picks up my kids every day from school (at a separate school then her children attend) and drops them off to the babysitter so that I can stay at work. She is just amazing, I don’t know what I would do without her. On top of all this she works for a job that she is on call 24/7. She is active in the community and is just wonderful!

Woman of the Week for 04/14/2013: Leisa Caravello

Nominated by: Samantha Zakutansky

My mom has always been the strongest woman I know, raising my sister and I as a single parent for most of our lives. She has always done whatever it takes to give us all we needed. In the last few years her parents had gotten to where they couldn’t do things for themselves and could no longer live alone. She took them both in to live with her, her husband, step daughter and family pets. She is not an only child but she stepped up to the challenge. She sacrafices her privacy and has gone through many changes because of this. Two weeks ago her mother passed away unexpectedly, my mom stepped up and made decisions in a hurry for grandmother and has been so strong for her dad. My grandfather has lost the love of his life after almost 70 years of marriage. He’ll be 97 in May and he’s just trying to keep it together. We believe he has some form of dementia and this has created alot of problems in our family. My mom is a woman of God and strives everyday, working 50 hours a week- assuming the role of matriarch for our family and putting everyone else before herself. She has given me and many others in our family peace in this sad time of losing my grandmother and reassured us all she is with Jesus. She could have fallen apart but under so much pressure and grief she hasn’t buckled once, she stays strong for everyone else. She never ceases to amaze me. Please choose my mother for the woman of the week to honor her strength and selflessness. Thank you.

Woman of the Week for 04/25/2013: Michelle Lucey

Nominated by: Patricia buchanan

Michelle is an amazing Godley woman; she has a heart for service.

I am a single mom of 4 amazing children and one grand child. I was in an unsafe situation with my children and Michelle organized moving my children and me in 3 days. She secured the apartment and organized the movers etc. on top of this Michelle is assisting me with some parenting issues that I have been trying to overcome. She does this in a loving way. Michelle picks up my children every day and takes them home to the babysitter. While doing this she encourages them to behave by offering weekly ice-cream trips if they have “Green” all week.

Michelle does all of this on top of her full time job, her commitments to the church and her husband and three children. She is a blessing to me and my family. I thank GOD for her every day!
I would just like to tell Michelle how much I appreciate her and all she does for us.

Woman of the Week for 04/26/2013: Lorna Donaldson

Nominated by: Sharlene Stanford

She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. I’ve nicknamed her “Saint Lorna”, and it couldn’t be a better fit. Ms. Lorna and my mother met when my sister was a member of her Sunday School class about 23 years ago. She and our family have kept in touch & remained the dearest of friends over all these years. Most recently, Ms. Lorna has really been a source of constant support in our lives with all of her love and encouragement. She has been my mom’s number one pioneer during her fight against breast cancer. Ms. Lorna, a cancer survivor herself is relentless, kind, giving and such an incredible woman of faith. She is ALWAYS helping others! Whether it is attending church and helping with a committee, participating and planning community events, visiting hospice patients, investing her time baking fresh goodies for others, the list goes on & on. She emails uplifting praise worships to my mom, calls, sends cards, surprises her with visits and flowers, takes her to doctor appointments, etc. She has and is so giving and authentic with everyone around her. She loves the Lord, loves her family, her friends, and her community. She is more than deserving of recognition and is as humble as can be. Every once in a while God blesses you with a special friend who is one of a kind, and we are so very blessed to call Ms. Lorna that sweet friend.

Woman of the Week for 09/12/2013: Megan Moreno

Nominated by: Alexander Nickerson

I had been going through some rough times, and I was planning on harming myself. Fortunately for me I had Megan. Megan called the police and I was able to get help. More than that, though, she is an excellent example to all of perseverance. Megan struggles with severe gastrointestinal disease, and even she is hurting so bad she can’t get out of bed without help, she still gives praise to the King. Through all this, she still gets good grades in her classes, and she always cares about the people around her. Megan is a shining example of how to overcome even the greatest difficulties while keeping your faith in God.

Woman of the Week for 06/11/2013: Monique Saunders

Nominated by: Jennifer Thielhelm Thielhelm

Growing up as next door neighbors, we have been best friends since the age of two. We were separated from 7th grade through college due to distance. We reunited again as we raised our children together and shared childcare. Monique is an angel on earth and is my prayer warrior. She has been a constant source of support throughout my life. She is quick to lend a hand at anytime. For instance, she was huge help when my father was fighting for his life for 7 weeks in the ICU. There were days when I had to work and things were bad-she would drop her plans, rush to the ICU and spend the day helping my family and keeping them calm and focused with prayer(being a past ICU nurse helped).
Besides being a great friend she is an amazingly supportive wife and mother of two!! She also dedicated 5 years of her life to care for her own mother as she battled ovarian cancer. In addition, she is a leader at her church-teaching bible studies and volunteering where she is needed.
Monique also constantly helps her neighbors. For one year she took dinner once a week to a neighbor who lost her husband tragically at an early age. She also helped to care for the two young children.
Monique truly makes this world a better place! She is my Godly sister!! I am blessed to have her in my life!

Woman of the Week for 08/07/2013: Pitiful Pups Rescue

Nominated by: Jacqueline Randolph

Stephanie and Buffy are both amazing, selfless women who give so much not only to their students but also to their dog rescue organization, Pitiful Pups. They took a small club at school and turned it into a huge passion! They specialize in rescuing dogs that have been neglected, abused, need medical attention, or are facing euthanasia at the shelter. From June 2012 – June 2013, they have saved the lives of 115 shelter dogs! This number doesn’t include the dogs that they have rescued from outside the shelter. God has given these two awesome women a passion and compassion for speaking up for the animals that can’t speak for themselves! I know they do not do it for the praise or for accolades, but I would love to acknowledge them and to say “Thanks” for making such a difference!
Sincerely, Jacqueline Randolph

You can find them on FB under Pitiful Pups

I met Alisha when I was 17 at our church music camp. We were childhood sweethearts and dated for 11 years before she became my wife. Alisha is an AMAZING mother to our two young children and unbelievable wife. She does SO much for our family on top of her duties at our church where she is the Christian Education Director. Not only does she coordinate and facilitate the youth programs for our church but she is also the assistant to our pastors wife. She does the programs, stats and anything else she is asked to do. She is the kind of person to put others first, even if it means hardship for herself. She is a woman of God and it is evident in the way she lives her life. She is an example of a great christian woman for our children, both at home and our church. I am grateful for all if her hard work that she does at both our church and at home or our family. Woman of the Week for 08/29/2013: Denise Serafin

Nominated by: Agnes Santori

I nominate Denise Serafin, because she has an amazing compassionate heart. She and her husband helped me and my daughters go through one of the most difficult times of our lives. I lost my job back in 2009. I have been a single mother for more than a decade now. Dedicated to my daughters and their well being. When I lost my job, 4 years ago… we end up with nothing! I have been jumping from house to house with my daughters for four years. Denise and Charlie open up their hearts to our needs, with a heart full of compassion and love. They have been amazing with us and because of them my daughters have some sense of stability. I just wanted to thank Denise, who was not my friend before we came to Florida… but she has been simply a heart full of true love to me and my daughters, like a sister to me! I will love her and thank her for the rest of my life for her acts of true kindness and support. People like Denise makes the difference in this world and give testimony of the true love that God has for us! Thank you Denise, we may not tell you often but we love you and will always be there for you too in any way we can possibly be. Thank you with all my Heart!

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2013: Tracey Ternent

Nominated by: Emily Ternent

My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on my parent’s 4th wedding anniversary. I was 6 months old at the time. My parents had been trying to have a child for 4 years, but God had a master plan, and he knew exactly when I needed to come. Most parents will call their kids, “my angel,” but it has a deeper meaning for my mom. Beast feeding caused her tumor to grow faster and allowed the doctors to find it before it reached stage 4. She calls me her angel because, in some ways, I saved her. My mom is the strongest woman I know, and she has helped so many other women deal with cancer by sharing her story and experiences. I think she should be a Woman of the Week because she fought an incredible fight at a very young age. I don’t know anyone else who deserves this recognition more than my mom, and I hope you honor her with this.

Woman of the Week for 10/05/2013: JoElle Marlow

Nominated by: Peni Gray

I am nominating my daughter and best friend JoElle Marlow. This is her second time fighting cancer. When she was a teenaager all she had to worry about was making it through the 3 1/2 years of chemo and surgerys. Everything else was taken care of. Now it’s been difficult for her being alone with 2 little boys, that don’t really understand what is happening to Mommy. Her faith is strong and she knows God’s arms around her through her daily struggles and diffcult time. She has not lost faith or hope and counts her blessings everyday. She knows God is using these experiences for her to help others. As bad as cancer is, we have been blessed by meeting some wonderful people and having blessed experiences with them.

Woman of the Week for 09/05/2013: Elizabeth Chaves

Nominated by: Louis Chaves

I decided to nominate my wife for Woman of the Week, because this week is her birthday. As we celebrate her, I want to share my amazing wife with the Z listeners. When I think of my wife, she should be women of the year not women of the week.. This year has been an awesome journey for her. Out of nowhere God opened the doors, we took a leap of Faith and He is Blessing it. One year later, its called The MusicBox. Although The MusicBox is a big part of her life, she is first a wife and mommy to our wonderful kids. This August, Elizabeth started homeschooling our son, which is one of our three kids. Isaiah 6, Ana 4, and Lily 22 months. Don’t tell her I said this, but some times I wonder how she can manage so much as a wife, mommy, worship leader, voice instructor, homeschool teacher, business owner. I am so proud of my loving, strong, caring, woman of faith, selfless, hard worker, sweet, independent, Proverbs 31 Virtuous woman.

Im honored to be her husband and her number one fan!

I love you so much Elizabeth!!!

My sister is a 25 year cancer survivor. She had such faith, even though she had to have a mastectomy, she never lost hope or faith. Nominated by: Dick Reddinger

Fantastic Christian woman who gives of herself to others on a daily basis. God had a plan when he spared her life many years ago.

Woman of the Week for 10/20/2013: Ilse Rohwer

Nominated by: Esther Voorberg

Several years before our family got to know Ilse, she battled breast cancer on her right side. She survived and thrived. Already in her late sixties she became a dear friend of our family and began babysitting our four children. Ilse, born in Germany and never married, has no family in the United States. Her family consists of the many families for whom she has nanny-ed and babysat. In the spring of 2012 Ilse had a mastectomy to remove her left breast, where the cancer had returned. She fought and won that battle too. She continues to be an essential member of our family, even though she no longer babysits for us, and as transplants ourselves with no family in the states, we have come to value her even more. When she speaks of her breast cancer she claims no strength in herself, but gives all the glory to God for her survival. Our “Miss Ilse” is one tough, sweet lady and we adore her.

My mother Cassondra Ishani, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in December 2011. She had to get the lump removed, along with all the lymph nodes in her left arm. Which caused the cancer to be be moved up to a stage 2. She had to have chemo and radiation, which got the job done in removing all the evil cancer cells from my moms body. God, our family, and the support from our church kept us strong. My mom is the strongest person I know. God constantly shines through her, in everything she does. She always makes someone smile where ever she is, and is an inspiration to our family of who a true woman of Christ is. While we were all weak and scared we looked to God for our comfort and peace, and he provided. Z88.3 is always on in our car and every time the song Stronger by Mandisa comes on we blast the volume and thank God for getting us all through that rough time and for coming out STRONGER! My mom is a breast cancer survivor! After all my mom gone through, I believe that her being nominated would make her smile.

Woman of the Week for 10/01/2013: Clarissa McConnell

Nominated by: Mitzi Kelly

My mom is a breast cancer survivor and she is my hero. Though the cancer was found early, she still had to endure surgery and and radiation treatments. She fought valliantly and now stands as a completely healed survivor of 15 years plus. Little did I know that she would be one of the ones I would lean on most to encourage me on in the battle of cancer. Not breast cancer but ovarian.
She continues to to be a strong woman who leans on the Lord daily and is so very greatful for everyday she has been given.
I love you mom!

Woman of the Week for 10/01/2013: Bea Lewandowski

Nominated by: Jeanne Brenan

She went through breast cancer with a double mastectomy and Leukemia at the same time about 10 years ago. She was in remission for awhile but it came back and she goes through chemo every Thursday for the past 3 years that I know of…maybe longer. No matter how bad she feels, she is still there for me when I am feeling down and helps me in any way that she can. She is the most giving and God fearing woman I know and has beat all odds of survival, but her body is beginning to give out. I want her to know she is loved and God has given me an angel in her.

Woman of the Week for 10/01/2013: Mary Poindexter

Nominated by: Traci Weston

My mother was diagnosed with an advanced stage of breast cancer in 2007. She was given only 3 months to live. It has been almost 6 years, and she is still with us. She has not gone into remission, but the cancer has not grown or spread. She still gets chemo and it still makes her weak at times, but she is able to live by herself and do some things on her own. She is not home bound. Even though she can’t drive, she still get out and goes to the store, restaurants, Church, and other places. Alot of our friends cannot get over how well she is doing after what she has gone through over the last 6 years. Not once has she let this battle get her down. Her faith has been strong throughout this whole ordeal. She still Praises God everyday. She knows that He is getting her through this.

Woman of the Week for 10/01/2013: Karol Elmer

Mom is still here, stronger than ever, enjoying life as a Grandma of my two boys and a wonderful woman of God. She had chemo which she was allergic to, radiation and medication for 10 years. Nominated by: bonnie bailey

Mimi is my aunt but more like my 2nd mom. she has helped me whether I was right wrong or indifferent. She has always encouraged the right and loved me when I chose the wrong. She taught me and my sister, brothers, and other cousins how to love ourselves and even more, how to love God. She would tell us about the stories in the bible and what was morally right. And when I was younger I had a tough childhood from my parents getting a divorce, my dad being in and out of jail and constantly fighting with my mom resulting in different living situations and whether our family didn’t have power or it was a tough situation she would take us into her home and loved us like her own. she has shown me what it is to be a strong, loving, independent woman of God.

Woman of the Week for 01/14/2014: Lori Wimer

Nominated by: Shannon Hunston

My mom is so much more than just the “Woman of the Week” to my family and me. She is a living example of what it means to be a Woman of God. She is a prayer warrior who led the charge in petitions that were placed before God concerning the lives of my babies…prayers that were heard and answered!! She is so compassionate and always seeks to put others needs before her own…especially when it comes to her family.

Several months ago during my pregnancy with twins, I was put strict bed rest for 3 months. Upon hearing this news, she got on an airplane and was by my bedside within hours! She assumed all my household duties and helped care for my 6-year-old son. Then, when my twins were born 2 1/2 months premature, she held me and stayed by my side when I was scared and overwhelmed. She came to the NICU every day, cleaned my house, cooked meals…all while continuing to support me emotionally. And though it all, she never complained. Her efforts for others are tireless! For this…and so many other reasons…I nominate my mom, Lori Wimer, just a few days away from her 60th birthday, to be the Woman of the Week. Happy birthday Mom! You are truly the heart of our family and a blessing to all those you meet!

Woman of the Week for 01/16/2014: Kaila Tindle

Nominated by: Albert yeste

Kaila is a true disciple of the Lord. She is currently working on leading her fourth mission trip to the Dominican Republic and is an avid follower of God’s way! Throughout the years, she has helped me become closer to God than I have ever been! With her guidance and example I’ve become a close follower of the Lord. As a result, I plan on attending my first mission trip with Kaila this upcoming July. Furthermore, along with juggling with her full-time job and leading the mission trip group, she has been actively planning our upcoming wedding. She has gracefully done about 95% of the planning herself with a smile every step of the way. Kaila’s leadership, determination, and sheer faith in God are just a few reasons why I am blessed man. Without a doubt Kaila certainly is, in my life, the woman of the week every week of the year!

Woman of the Week for 01/17/2014: Amber Parker

Nominated by: Carrie Parker

My sister has always been the sweetest, kindest woman in my life. She is selfless and always giving to others with a heart of gold. She has no children yet she drives around with carseats in her vehicle in case she gets the chance to spend time with either of my daughters. She is always thinking of them and doing things for them, she has a great heart and although we havent always been close or seen eye to eye, i love with her all my heart and thank god for giving me and my family such a wonderful person 27 years ago.

Woman of the Week for 01/22/2014: Marilyn Meade

Nominated by: Lacy Smith

My story began December 18th, I was admitted to the hospital for pancreatitis and had to have an operation done on December 23rd. I was released on December 24th. I had to return to the hospital on January 1st for Jaundice. My bile duct had collapsed and I had to have a 4 1/2hr surgery to have a stent put in my duct. My mother came to my rescue. I have a 3 year old little girl and husband that needed help in our home. My husband would come to the hospital and my mom would keep my daughter. I am still recovering from my 2nd surgery and unable to take care of my daughter at the moment, my mom has been staying at our house in order to make sure I’m taken care of, as well as my 3 year old. She gets up every morning and gets my daughter ready for school, takes her to school and picks her up. EVERY DAY. She cleans my home, does my laundry and feeds my child. All while my husband is on nightshift for half of the week and dayshift for the other half. She is an amazing woman of God, who has been through so much over the past several years. She has never shifted her faith one bit. I love you so much mom and thankful for everything you have done for me and my family!

Woman of the Week for 01/23/2014: Jeanette Larrimore

Nominated by: Darlene Raimondi

I am nominating my friend Jeanette, who meets the definition of a Titus 2 woman to me. Three years ago, my life was in shambles. I had lost my 24 year old son in a tragic work accident, I lost my job 3 months later.

Following a request for prayer to my new church, Aloma Church, Jeanette was the first to reach out to me and assure me that God intends all things to work together for my good. She emailed and called and encouraged me. It has been 2 ½ years since God brought her into my life and her care and concern for me has never lessened. She is never selfish and always investing in my spiritual growth.

Jeanette has mentored and disciple me during a time where it would have been very easy to decide that the road ahead was too hard. She has been like a mother to me in my darkest hours and in the time of my greatest need. She gave me the strength not to give up on my journey as a follower of Jesus Christ. I am very grateful to God for putting Jeanette in my life. She deserves to be honored.

Woman of the Week for 01/24/2014: Traci Whitney

Nominated by: Becky Salter

My dear friend Traci is amazing. She loves Jesus, her family, and her friends. Currently, her husband is fighting stage four lung cancer. This is his fourth bout with various types of cancer. And when most people would be hiding under their covers, she’s still living life and LOVING WELL. She carpools her kids around, makes them hot meals, does all the mommy duties, plus reaches out to her friends. While I’m here, dealing with everyday stress, she calls to check on ME! And she listens when I need to vent, never telling me I shouldn’t complain. She models the Proverbs 31 woman, while being the hands and feet of Jesus. I’m a better person just for knowing her.

Woman of the Week for 01/27/2014: Isabel Betancourt

Nominated by: Dalmaris Betancourt

I’d love for my mother to be “Woman of the Week” because I don’t think she realizes what a wonderful woman she truly is, or accepts the kind of light I see her in. She possesses admirable qualities and has always set a terrific example for me. She’s been a hard worker since I was little, providing steady income for this home and allowing my father to carry out his ministry freely. I don’t know how she manages it but she’s independent and strong minded yet serving and soft spoken. She loves the Lord and although she’s shy, she’s allowed the Lord to use her and has stepped up as leader of the worship team in her church. All the little and unseen things she’s done have not been in vain, I know God is proud of her as am I. Please take my mother as a serious nominee, she needs to be enlightened as to what a beautiful woman she is. Thank you!

Woman of the Week for 01/28/2014: Alvalin (Abby) Galarza

Nominated by: Amanda Ramos

I would like to nominate my mother. She is a pastors wife which sometimes can be very difficult.Se has to be strong enough to share her husband with others in need. But she is such a patience and loving woman I can honestly say she is defiantly a great example to all woman. Two years ago when things got rough with the economy my parents were in the middle of possibly losing their home. One thing I admire about them is they kept living life normal and continued to say I am not worried if God wants us there he will work it out. If not then he needs us somewhere else. And up until the last month they kept that saying and a month before they needed to make a decision as to where to go, the lender approved there refinancing for the mortgage and they took off the amount they were upside down and wiped it clean and now there mortgage is $300 cheaper. God is good. And there testimony is a great example for all to keep your faith not matter what!!I am so grateful she has been there for me through all my life struggles. She truly is a great example of an amazing woman of God!

Woman of the Week for 01/29/2014: Sarah Thompson

Nominated by: Pam Washburn

My daughter is the most amazing young woman I know. She is married to a wonderful young man. They have been married 13yrs. and have 7 children. They wanted a large family when they got married. She homeschools 6 of the children with excellence! The youngest is still too young. She not only has her children but everyday she has many of the neighbor children at her home, as well. She gives them snacks and loves on them since many of the parents work. At Christmas, she had 12-14 of the neighborhood children to her home one evening to decorate sugar cookies, have hot chocolate and she and her husband read them the story of Jesus’ birth. She has brought meals to neighbors in need. At church she volunteers to work in the nursery and helps bring meals to those in need. Besides all this, she taxi’s her children to dance, ball, swimming etc. As I am writing this I am amazed at how much she does!

Woman of the Week for 02/07/2014: Michelle Sczecienski

Nominated by: Stan Sczecienski

She is a woman that is always striving to make the world a better place, but in subtle ways, with no fan fare to her. Christmas time she went to the local dollar store, with money she saved and gave away $100 to families that she could see were struggling. This is one of the many things that make her special.

Woman of the Week for 02/08/2014: Angela Watson

Nominated by: Gennefa Matthews

She is like our local Mother Theresa; she helps everyone in our church. The day my husband passed away 12 years ago she invited me to her house to stay for the night and she has been a Tower of strength for me and the rest of my family since then. She takes anyone from our church to the Doctor even when she is in the hospital she calls everyone that is not well to see how they are doing.
She is our spiritual and medical advisor as she was a Nurse Practitioner before she retired.
She prays with us whenever she is going to counsel us. She has the calm disposition She helps to calm me through driving on I-4 or preparing for any medical procedure.
She makes you feel as if you are the only person she is being kind to, she makes everyone feels special.
I thank God every day for placing her and her husband in my life.
SHE is An Angel. Words cannot express how grateful I am for all she has done for my family and I.
She a Woman of the Year for me. I love you Angela

Woman of the Week for 02/10/2014: Glenda Torrens

Nominated by: Lucette Corredor

She might not be my biological mother but in my heart she is. Glenda has been there not only as a mother but also like a friend. When she married my father she knew that she was going to be marrying me as well. Now don’t get me wrong I love my biological mother as well and I have a special connection with her but I spent most of my life with my step mom. She taught me so much about life and about God. My step mom is a true woman of faith. We have shared such great moments, moments of laughter just like moments of sadness. My mother has been like a rock for me. Always helped me when I needed it. Never hesitated. She always knew the right things to say. It was like she knew! I guess it was her maternal insticts. I am blessed to call her not only my friend but also my mom! God really blessed me with her in my life. And now that I am married I am too a step mom. My hope is that I can be as a good enough step mom to my step son as she was to me.

Woman of the Week for 02/10/2014: Michelle Raulerson

Nominated by: Debra Domingue

My daughter nominated me as WOTW December 28, 2006. She married her God soul mate October 1995 and inherited two beautiful daughters from her husband, Aaron’s first marriage who were 6 and 4 when she met them. Had their first daughter 3./18/98 and the second daughter 9/9/2005. Aaron was a diabetic when she met and fell in love with him. He was diagnosed with end stage renal disease in Nov. 2005. Their second daughter was only two months old. Over the last 8 years & 3 months she has stayed true to her God. Her prayers and requests for prayers has always been for healing – thy will be done. Aaron is now at the end of what the medical profession can do for him. With my daughters faith, hope and love she has helped him and all four daughters in the long walk home he has taken. Stayed true to her wedding vows in sickness & health and for better or worse. She lives in the reality of the situation. Z has been a tremdndous help with prayer requests, tickets won to Night of Joy, wonderful music (8 year old keeps her radio on all night long to keep the bad away) and we all have been ministered by the music.
Aaron’s fissula in his arm that dialysis is done on has clotted up 6 times in the past 60 days. Tonight being the latest time. He will go in hospital on Wednesday. Please honor my daughter with a little extra light in her HARD life.

My parents have been together for 35 years and have never once had an empty nest and this is still true today. Being a single parent myself makes it hard to spoil her as my heart desires which is why I am nominating her as “Woman of the Week.” I want her to know how much she is valued and appreciated for whom she is.
Mom, thank you for always being someone I can depend on, thank you for giving me the grace to grow and thank you for loving me when I was unlovable.

Tammy has been my sister-in-law for 29 years. In that time I have seen her grow into the beautiful women of God she is now. She loves deeply for the people. Always willing to do whatever is needed. She along with our niece organized her sister’s 25th surprise anniversary celebration 5 years ago, she planned and paid for my daughters wedding reception dinner along with my other sister-in-laws and my mother in-law. She is now going through a very rough time. We recently lost her father and now she is dealing with the illness of her father-in-law, his prognosis doesn’t look good. She and her husband are always there for her nieces Gracie and her sister, we call her Peanut. She is one of the strongest women I know, both in her faith and emotionally. Did I mention she also works full time as a payroll manager and is loved dearly by her employees? She has now stepped into the roll of “Grammy” and it is such a joy to know how much love my son will experience just because she is in his life. Woman of the Week for 03/15/2014: Tracy Morgan

Nominated by: Madison&Natalie Morgan

We’re nominating our mom because she is our role model. She retired from her successful engineering career nearly 15 years ago to home school us, and we are so thankful for that! She puts so much work into helping us learn and use the gifts that God has given us. She models what a hard-working, smart, patient, godly woman should be, and she truly lives out her favorite Bible verse, “Everything your hands find to do, do it with all of your might” (Ecc9:10). She joyfully drives us places, waits in the car, cooks, cleans, does our laundry when we forget, and always puts our needs above her own. Sometimes the value of a stay-at-home mom can be overlooked, but we know that our mom is incredible and deserves to be recognized for the amazing woman she is.

Mommy, thank you for serving and loving your family so well, we love you!!

Woman of the Week for 03/16/2014: Rosemary Zeiger

Nominated by: Marlyn Rothenberger

The Lord has blessed me with many wonderful friends in my life that have helped me grow closer to God. However, this special woman in my life will go above and beyond to help me stay on track with whatever God has planned for me. At times, I struggle and I share my struggles with her. When I do, she in a warm and nonjudgmental way, tells me not what I want to hear, but what the Lord wants me to hear. She has such a calm demeanor for everything she does. What prompt me to write to the Z was God. This week God blessed our family with a beautiful home. My dear friend continued to help me grow by sharing some information on how to bless our home! She never stops thinking of how to help others to grow closer to God! She helps others establish a loving relationship with our Lord Savior. She makes our world, a better one!

Nominated by: Daniela Cuevas

I would like to nominate Carmen Cuevas as the woman of the week, as she is such a caring, loving, and dedicated pastor/pastor’s wife, friend, and mother in law. She’s been pastoring for over 13 years, and each day she gives in more and more of herself in to helping others. She is such an outgoing person who has a passion for the Lord that is contagious! She has worked non-stopped in the ministry, and together with her husband has been able to go on several missionary trips to other countries which include Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Guatemala. She loves teaching others about the word of God, and is a true example of how outreach should be done. The Lord placed in her heart to start a women’s ministry, in which she has put her heart and soul for the purpose to teach the importance of prayer and the word. With such passion and dedication, she has selflessly put in all of her time, effort, and energy, but currently is facing some hardships, and the women’s ministry at our church would like her to know that just as she has been there for all of us, we are here for her, and celebrate and appreciate everything she has done for us. We love you dearly Carmen, and we know the Lord is with you through this time, and know you have some strong faithful women of prayer who will be praying for you, and be here for anything you need. We love you!

Woman of the Week for 03/28/2014: Sandra Bucy

Nominated by: Tara Dufrene

My mom is an extraordinary woman. She has made many sacrifices in her life for me. My husband and I moved to Florida 12 years ago and my mom gave up her career and moved with us so that she could take care of our home while we focused on our careers. We would not be able to do what we do without her living with us. She spends much of her free time making jewelry for me & my friends as well as gifts for women’s conferences and charity organizations. There are so many other things she has done for us throughout our lives but I would like to point out one. In April 2012 I had a brain aneurysm and had to be air lifted to the hospital where I had surgery. Thank God, for his hand on my life as he brought me through the surgery with no complications and no deficits and I was home in 8 days. I am a high energy person who needs to be moving in more than one direction at all times. My mom knowing this basically didn’t allow me too much free time without her sitting next to me as I wanted to do way more than I should have. She very gently but sternly kept me focused on allowing my body to heal. She was there to love and support me and to walk me through my recovery and healing. A quick funny during my initial days home from the hospital. We have a 2 story house and my mom’s room is downstairs. My mom insisted that I get in the bed and nap one morning. She took away my phone & computer, tucked me in and turned out the lights, then closed the door. I looked at the clock, gave her 5 minutes to get to her room, then quietly crept out of bed to go retrieve my computer & phone to sneak them back in the room with me, when I opened the door to the room, there she sat…..ooops back to bed for me. In May of this year I will have my 2 year checkup which has me thanking God for giving me such an amazing mom and friend. I love her fiercely.

Woman of the Week for 03/28/2014: Dawn Chambelain

Nominated by: Tarra Chamberlain

Shes the best person in the world. Shes been through more trials and tests than anyone I know, and never complains about anything. She helps me and my children everyday. Even though she has been diagnosed with severe medical problems, and is in pain 24/7, she never fails to have a smile and positive attitude. Shes proven to be more forgiving and more full of patience than any one I have ever known in my life. I can say honestly , I don’t know where I’d be today without her guidance and support. She’s remained faithful to God, no matter what problems life has thrown at her, and there have been PLENTY of obstacles that have made me even be angry with God, yet she ( the person its happening to) just prays and sings worship songs to get her through her days. I am honored to have her as my mother. Thank you God for this amazing woman, that you’ve blessed me with!

Woman of the Week for 04/09/2014: Wanda Mulet

I want to nominate my mother as woman of the week because she is an amazing woman that is always positive no matter what is going on. We have been going through very difficult times, but mom always makes the best out of it. She is always there for me, and will never judge anyone no matter what is going on in their lives. She is special, and she is my role model. She is a care pastor in my church, and she is always helping out anyway she can. She encourages people, and helps them in any of their troubles. I love you mom!

Woman of the Week for 04/05/2014: Marianne Hawkins

My sister, Marianne, inspires me in more ways than one. She is a devoted daughter to our mother, who is 93, and a loving wife to her husband and mother to her 3 daughters. Woman of the Week for 04/16/2014: Josefina Perez

Nominated by: Mandy Pabon

My mother is one the pastors at our church and her love for Jesus and for other people changes lives. She has changed my life and I would love to be half the woman that she is. My mother has a huge heart and is an amazing servant for the Lord. She is the closest thing to being the real superwoman and the best role model anyone could ask for. As a teenager I always told my mom that I never wanted to be like her, but now that she has given her life to Christ, I see how He has changed her and her life forever. Now as an adult and a mother myself all I want to be like is my mom, a strong, beautiful warrior for Christ. My mother deserves to be the woman of the week because in many of our lives she is the woman of the year.

Woman of the Week for 04/09/2014: Janet c

Nominated by: Wendy Hetherton

Janet is a lady who does not know how to say no. When she sees a need she is right there. This woman has been a mama to me and adopted my boys as her own grandsons when they did not have one. She has supported me and listened to me cry when things were so hard, showing my family and myself the unselfish love of God. Janet has been a friend to many youth in church, teaching them to bake rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, teaching young ladies to sew. This woman at 80+ years is a wonderful lady. She loves the Lord and shows it in the way she lives her life. I cannot say enough about this woman as she has always been there for me with love and support (even when my youngest went into the Army and deployed). I love you Janet more than words can say!

My mom is more than just my mom. That’s why I nominate her, she is my bestfriend. I honestly can’t appreciate her enough she knows exactly how to make me smile. She always has the best advice to help me. Shes there for me whenever no one else is!! When my dad left us she always stayed strong and never gave up. She always finds good in the bad. She takes me to my soccer practice 4 times a week, and she loves it! Weird right? I tell her she does to much for me and she tells me “no one was there to do stuff for me when I was your age so I don’t want you to have to experience that” she always breathes life into my life and all the others around her! She loves kids and works at a daycare. She is my true definition of a bestfriend, mom, provider, and she shows me true love.

Woman of the Week for 04/21/2014: Barbara Provenzano

Barbara is a kind loving person and does not get recognized for what she does. She has taught me about forgiveness. How to forgive and let go of those who have hurt me. She has recently taken her 13 year old grandson into her home to allow him to finish up school here in Florida. I have watched her grow as a Christian women. Her belief is an inspiration to me. She is patient and waits for God to do what He has to do.
At the same time she keeps praying and does not lose her faith. She works in a field that is challenging daily and then comes home and cares for her husband and grandson. She gives from the heart without any trepidation. She volunteers at a program at our church in which she can teach other women how to let God take care of things. I nominate Barbara as women of the week because she is worth it and deserves a shout out from other women.

Woman of the Week for 04/22/2014: jeannie sarmiento

Nominated by: joselyn carasquillo

I nominate my sister Jeannie. She is a special person. She is devoted mother, sister, friend and most importantly a devoted Christian. Right now she is fighting diabetes and severe anemia. I admire her so much every day she strives to make sure her home and family are taken care of. Her family consist of 3 children and one grandchild and a devoted husband. Every morning she wakes up at 4 to take care of her grandchild while her daughter goes to work then she takes her grandchild to her babysitter and drops her other daughter to school and heads to work. After work she picks up her granddaughter and daughters to head home to cook and clean to do all over again the next day. I don’t know how she does it but if you see her you will always see that smile of happiness she has. You will always praising god through the good and through the bad. She is a great example of how a Christian should be through the good and through the bad. I can honestly say she is the rock of our family. We may not tell her or show her as much as we should but I thank god everyday for choosing her to be my big sister and my second mother. In my darkest hours she was there. I know god used her each time to speak to my life. I would be here right now if it wasn’t for her .

Woman of the Week for 04/29/2014: DJ Cardinale

Nominated by: Janell Gargano

How can I even begin to describe how wonderful my sister DJ is? She is my role model. She is a wonderful Mother, Sister, Wife and woman of God. She puts everyone before herself. She is always willing to help others, lend a listening ear and offer good advice. She is always able to make me feel better when I am upset or hurt. She helps bring me back to reality and reminds me that God is in control and that everything will be ok. With four kids my sister juggles more than I could ever imagine. Just thinking about her daily duties exhausts me. Yet she does it all with a smile on her face. I would also like to recognize the wonderful relationship that my sister has with her children. The love between them shines so bright when they are together. I pray that I will have the same bond with my daughter, Alyssa, as she grows older.
DJ, I love you more than words could ever express. I can only hope that one day I will be as caring, patient and as loving as you. I’m so glad God put you, and your family, in my life!

Woman of the Week for 04/29/2014: Christine Cloar

Nominated by: Brian Cloar

Christine comes from a missionary family. She moved here from Texas when we got married. In Texas, she’s a Special Needs Diagnostician. Florida doesn’t have diagnosticians, so for now, she is content to work as a special needs educator in Orange County while finishing her Ph.D. in the field. Not only does she work with these kids, she makes trips on her own to families’ homes to help parents adjust and learn more about their kids. Recently, she had a special needs child in her class who came to school daily wearing shoes with her toes sticking out. Christine bought this child new shoes so she would not feel even more inferior.

Last weekend, Christine got up early on her day off, being 5 months pregnant with our first child, and attended a course at church so she could volunteer with special needs kids there. She has already gone shopping to price items, on her own, for a sensory room at church. She not only does this here, but also with special needs children in Africa. If asked, she’ll say this is not her job it’s her mission field. She is only doing what God has called her to do.

Woman of the Week for 07/14/2014: Kelly Cronin

Nominated by: Tom Cronin

My wonderful wife, Kelly, is an absolutely amazing mother to our three blessings from God; Kaityln, Connor and Emerson. Kelly approaches each day thinking how can she make this world a better place for those around her. Kelly places God first, is active in our Church and is a community leader. Kelly is a proud 10 year employee of the Florida Hospital network where she is treated like family and follows their mission statement by ” Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ ” to those in need. Kelly is an Assistant Nurse Manager on a cancer floor where she leads other nurses in providing the best patient care and constantly reminds them that compassion and Christ is what helps sick people when dealing with life threatening illness. Kelly still takes the time to hold patient hands, make eye contact, provide hope when many see none and many times pray, hug, cry with patients and their families. Unfortunately Kelly’s work is serious business where the good guys don’t always win! Oh did I mention that Kelly has had 7 surgeries in the last 5 years for cancer related illnesses. Please join me in honoring an angle here on earth, Kelly Cronin.

Nominated by: Glenn Thweatt

She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that works with children and families. She provides in-home services and goes above and beyond in her job. If you could ask the people she has counseled if she should be the woman of the year, you would have a huge list of people that would agree. She is 36 and graduated with a 4.0 with a PhD in Psychology in March of 2014. She is the greatest thing to happen to me and many others. We met in 1997 and married 07/07/2001. I am 41 and she has recently inspired me to go back to school for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have not been in school since 14. I needed z88.3 and listened so much that she has now switched exclusively to this type of music and this station; another sign of how good a woman she is. I thank God daily for her existence and presence in my life. Her focus, and soon my own, is the study of aggression in males. I do not know what I did to deserve this guardian angel, but I cannot imagine life without her.

My dear dad should be Super Dad of the month! HA! My dad, a retired Vietnam Veteran, Retired Firefighter is an amazing exploratory father, husband, and now grandpa. My dad not only has many recognition from serving our country, from being burned to save a family, and the list goes on- I recognize now, that all my life my father worked hard to provide a stable home, a role model of a man who is willing to risk it all to save others, and especially his family. My dad turned 66 last month and has been battling Alzheimer’s for the last 3 years, throughout this devastation to our family- even in those moments where he forget who everyone is, I thank God because he can always recognize me, His silly, comical ways have not been altered or change a bit. I’d like the Z to recognize an outstanding Father who has not only given me the best years in sacrificing what ever was needed but also sacrificing his life for the sake of our country and people whom he never knew. Thank you dad for an amazing childhood, for showing me an unfailing love of a father and even now, I thank God for the bond we have! Thank you Z!

My dad is a super dad because he is very special to me! He spends lots of quality time with my sister Mallory and I. He takes us fishing, swimming, camping and to the beach. I love spending time with my dad! We have so much fun together. We even joined Fishers of Men as a father – son junior team. We do fishing tournaments and even won our division and received father – son trophies. I will remember these fun times forever! My dad is also a hard worker. He works tirelessly as a Police Officier to support our family but he always makes time for Mallory and I. The most important reason he’s a super dad is because he loves Jesus with all his heart and he tries to do the right thing. I want to grow up to be just like him. That’s why I am happy to honor my dad in this special way and tell him how much I love and admire him for being such a Godly example in my life and in the lives of others. I’m thankful he’s my dad! Happy Father’s Day Dad! I Love You! Your Son, Tyler

Sitting on his lap on Sundays while he read me the comics (even when I was old enough to be able to read). Teaching me how to fix things, making me learn what everything under the hood of the car did & how to check/change it before I could get my license. Allowing us to live in his sister’s house when we first moved down here to be near them. Giving my girls horsey rides on his back when they were little. Loving my mom until he went home to live with Jesus in 2009. He was a great dad!

Woman of the Week for 06/10/2014: Ken Blaisdell

Nominated by: Emily Blaisdell

My real father chooses to not be in my life and therefore Father’s Day used to not be a good day for me. But ever since we had our daughter 2 years ago he makes me look forward to Father’s Day again because I get to celebrate how great a dad he is to our daughter Samantha. I tell her all the time how blessed she is to have a dad like him who wants to be in her life and loves her very much. He did not have a good father figure growing up either but he has risen above that and even his mother is so amazed at how great a dad he is because of how his dad was. Ken always takes the time to play with her and teach her things, he’s never too busy for her and it is such a joy to see the two of them together.

Nominated by: Yvonne Lopez

I was not able to have children because of a condition I was diagnosed with at 18. My husband knew this and married me anyway because he said God told him He was going to bless us with children of our own. I already accepted my situation but years into us being married, my husband still had faith. One day, he said, “God told me I need to forgive my father before He blesses us with our own children.” His father is an ex-drug addict and alcoholic that has never been there for my husband. My husband called him up and poured into his father with the love of God for 2 hours. After the conversation, he walked out into the living room where I was sitting and told me, “Now, you’re going to get pregnant!” Not even a month later, I was…with twins. A DOUBLE PORTION! To me, a father is someone that sacrifices of himself to give to their children. His love for our little boys was so strong even before they were born, that he forgave a man that to most was unforgivable, just like our heavenly Father did for us. To this day, even with no physical example to live by, my husband is an amazing dad to his twin boys that are now 3 years old. God is the only example a man needs to know how a father should act, provide and love on his kids. My husband is also a Youth Director to amazing teenagers that also look up to him. I want to honor this man of God for stepping out in blind faith, venturing out in unfamiliar territory all for love! He’s definitely my hero and the best reason to celebrate Father’s day.

Woman of the Week for 06/11/2014: Jesus Vallejo

Nominated by: Kristin Vallejo

I’m nominating my husband Jesus because not only did he overcome drug addiction (as a young adult/teenager) to be a better man and present for his oldest child but he also has been raising a younger child as his son for the past 7 years. Jesus divorced Ryan’s mother when Ryan was 5. She remarried and had Spencer. Spencer’s father left the picture shortly after he was born and Jesus has been picking Spencer up, caring for him, loving him and being called Daddy by Spencer since Spencer was 8 months Old. If that’s not enough to emphasize why my husband is the best Daddy, he also began college at the age of 34 to prove to his sons that it is never too late to follow your dreams and become a better man. He is an inspiration and a blessing to us all.

I am the 3rd oldest of 9 kids. The oldest is 35, the youngest 11. My Dad is the glue to our family. HIs faith, friendship and love have made me who I am today. I am a children’s pastor in the Orlando area and its because of his constant love, prayers and encouragement that I have been able to keep going. I am so thankful to say that my Dad is my best friend. I know I can call him for anything and he will give me the wisdom that I need-even if its something I don’t want to hear. My Dad’s faith is so big and because of that, I didn’t settle when waiting for the right man to marry. My husband and I always joke because he is so much like my Dad. I guess it is true what they say-I did marry a man who is like my Dad.

I’ll never forget the day that my parents dropped me off for college. I could tell my Dad was trying so hard to keep it together and be strong for me because he knew how badly I wanted to become a children’s pastor and go to school for it. Later that week I received a beautiful poem from my Dad about how with God’s help he was going to try his best to let me go and grow into the woman that God has called me to be. I keep the poem in my purse and when I’m down or missing my Dad, I take that poem out and read it. It reminds me how much my Daddy loves me and how God placed me in the care of my Dad so that I could be who I am today. I love you Daddy. Forever and Always.

Woman of the Week for 07/06/2014: Martha Chandler

Nominated by: Jennifer Lewis

My best friend is truly an angel in disguise and has faced insurmountable struggles both in her own life and standing beside me with mine. She has been by my side throughout some of my darkest days. While facing her own struggles, she has always been there to push me and give me strength to face mine. She taught me the true meaning of unconditional love and acceptance, nothing I can ever do for her will ever amount to what she has done for me. Martha helped me find my way back to the Lord, when I thought He had forgotten, amid the most trying times of both of our lives. She lifted me up and then we prayed, when I thought I had no more strength to carry on, with tears streaming down our faces and pleads coming from the deepest places of our hearts. If it is true that you can never be as blessed as you are until you do something for someone that can never be repaid, then that is true for me in this moment. Words can never express the love and gratitude I have for her. Thank you Martha, you are my greatest blessing.

Woman of the Week for 06/12/2014: Daniel Deuter

Nominated by: Danielle Deuter

Daniel met me after I got divorced and I had 3 children ages 4,6,7 and he took them in as his own. After dating for about 6 months I started to get seizures which caused me to loose my job and during that time, because of our religious beliefs he paid all my bills for myself and the 3 children that are not his. After we got married he continued to be a daddy to them. December 11th, 2013 he adopted the children as his own, but he already knew in his heart that he was their daddy. December 29th our son 8 year old Ethan was returned to God and is in heaven watching over us. Ethan died in a severe car accident, I was in the hospital for 48 days and during that time He took on the responsibility of the other 2 children’s health care, as well as making sure that our daughter had the surgery that she needed. He pushed off the funeral of our son, and all the arrangements so we could do it together once I woke up from my coma. He stayed over night with the children, comforted them and made sure that they had everything they needed. He continues to above and beyond as their daddy. He is a real daddy to these children and the legal aspect was not at all a matter of his heart, he was their daddy since the first time he laid eyes on them 3 years ago. Daniel Thank you for being a Godly, loving daddy to Courtney, Kyle and Ethan! We love you

Woman of the Week for 06/12/2014: Daniel Stone

Nominated by: Elizabeth Stone

Daniel is an amazing father. I am truly the most blessed woman on the planet! We were married 7 years ago after a season of 11 years of my being a single mother. I prayed for God’s best and made a list asking God to bless me with a man that would love and honor him first, me second, and who would be able to love my son unconditionally. We had been through a very violent past and I was not willing to fall for just anyone! Daniel came into my life at a time when I had proclaimed (loudly I might add) to my entire singles group that all the good men were gone. (I was that hurt) and proceeded to be my friend and prove to me over and over that not all the good ones were taken. He was a single dad and a music pastor. In February of 2007 we blended our lives together and became husband and wife. As it stands, he had a list as well. We discovered that the two matched nearly identically, after we shared our lists when we became engaged. He adopted my son in August of that year, and in late November of that year I delivered our beautiful little girl Megan Joy. Three years later, even though our other children were nearly grown God blessed us with a sixth child, Ryan Daniel. I deeply respect my husband and the way that he lives his life as an example of Jesus. He is my partner and best friend and the best daddy in the world to all of our children. He is fair and honest, and he guards his time with God as precious. He loves his children and seeks the Lord for wisdom to guide them as they grow. He continues to always use his talents to bless and love those around him. I praise my savior for his amazing answer to my prayers – Daniel Stone!

To them they think that he is one of Gods superheroes that show the world who God is and spreading his word. That is why I am nominating my husband to be super dad.

Woman of the Week for 06/13/2014: David` Randolph

Nominated by: Danielle Houser

My Dad just turned 50 last month and he has always been involved in every part of our life! He has been such a Godly example of a father to my sister and me. He has made many sacrifices over the years for us. I can remember him driving straight from work to our “away” basketball games, video taping our game, going out to eat with the team after the game and then re-watching the basketball game he just videotaped when we got back home! This is just one of countless examples of how he showed he loves us. Being a new parent myself, I can certainly appreciate all of the time, energy and love he invested in our lives! He is certainly a “Super Dad!” I love you Daddy!

Nominated by: Vicki Gillett

Tammy Awbrey was never supposed to live past six, and here she is, a 51 year old who loves The Lord. She attends Primrose Center, a facility for special needs adults, and is a member of FPCO. Tammy has the most amazing outlook on life and readily shares that with others. She knows she’s going to heaven and won’t hesitate to share that good news. Oh, if we could always be that bold in our witness. God has allowed her to bless others in a special way.

Woman of the Week for 06/17/2014: Martha Chandler

Nominated by: Jennifer Lewis

I met Martha years ago and I felt an instant connection with her. Things were easier then, for both of us, we didn’t have to try so hard. We shared so many good moments together, what would become some of the best memories of my life. She opened up my heart again; to friendship, and to God. I started going to church with her and we prayed together. I had always known God but many times I thought he had forgotten about me. But God changed my heart through Martha. My life would soon fall apart and everything that I had worked so hard for would be lost. It’s been a fight to reclaim my life. In the darkest moments, I felt God within me and when I looked up, it was Martha by my side always. I caused her a lot of hurt along the way and I wish I could take it back. Through it all, she stood by me, trying so hard to guide me and love me. She was going through her own struggles but she was always there to help me. God sent me an angel and her name is Martha and I am blessed.

Woman of the Week for 06/21/2014: Elly Chamberlain

I nominate my wonderful mom to women of the week because she is there for me 24/7 no matter the circumstances. She gave up a lot to have me and somehow still to this day puts me first. I will never know how but she does a great job at controlling my crazy family and I hope to be just like her someday! Nominated by: Courtney Bromfield

My mommy got Brest cancer and it was a huge blow to out family. But while she was in the hospital she was always praying every night and always thanking God for all her blessings. I think she was a beacon of hope for all those in the hospital, I believe she brought people to Christ! She lived through this journey and is fully recovered and healthy…except for her cold;)! All her hair is back an it looks like she never even had cancer. I think the reason she is with Us today is just that, she trusted on God that it would all be fine. When I get older I want to be just like her!!

Woman of the Week for 07/02/2014: Veronica Graves

Nominated by: Mara Traum

Apostle Veronica has gone above and beyond her role as a Pastor. Since I came to the ministry 6 years ago, she has helped me mature into a woman I didn’t know that I could be. She has helped in countless ways with my children and different difficult situations that have arisen. With the recent passing of my mother, she, with the help of the church members, made the process as easy as possible; in addition to reaching out, praying for and checking up on us throughout. These are just examples of my experience, but she is interactive with all the members and cares deeply for God’s people. She is selfless and just a blessing to have as a spiritual mother. She is a true woman of God and her life is a living example of how we, as women, should live. I’m grateful for her sacrifices of love and would like her to know how much she is truly loved and appreciated.

Woman of the Week for 07/27/2014: Denise Lund

Nominated by: Michelle Van Bever

Denise was always a very spiritual person, in school she was in the Youth for Christ club. I have always had a desire to know more about our Lord God but was insecure about asking. Denise and I came back together at our 25 year high school class reunion and have been inseparable since then (10 yrs ago). She has been decipling me and has made me hungry for more knowledge about the word of God. She calls me every morning for prayer, she comes out of her way to check on me and my family without our asking, she just married me and my high school sweetheart Brent in March of this year. It was the most beautiful ceremony done right in our living room in front of family only and God. She is a giver to every one and is full of the Holy Spirit!! She introduced me to a wonderful church that I absolutely LOVE. I listen to Z88.3 all day at work (I’m a police officer) and it has helped me get through my day. Denise is my prayer warrior and best friend. She is my pick for Woman of the Week!

Woman of the Week for 07/07/2014: Daria Monroe

She lives her life for Christ, and that is her strength every day. Her passion is for “LIFE” and she works so hard to see babies saved every day through her job. She pours out so much to others day after day… and if anyone deserves to be recognized as “Woman of the Week” it is her. I respect her very much and know she has many treasures in heaven awaiting her.

Woman of the Week for 07/15/2014: Debbie Tyson

Nominated by: Raina Sims

My mother is an amazing person. She home-birthed and nursed 4 children in 9 years. Then when the youngest was just 3, she became a single mother. She had homeschooled all of us up until that point because she could no longer manage. She found a job while we went to school. We have had our ups and down since then, but she has pulled herself on top of all of this. My step-dad and her have been married now for 9 years, and for the last few she has been making her way through school. She never went past the 9th grade, got her GED, and now is completing college, with honors. She was a member of the National Honors Society at Seminole State and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She will graduate Summa Cum Laude at UCF next year with a Bachelor’s in psychology in the top 5% of her class. We will walk together as mother and daughter. She will be 56 years old in December and has a hereditary neurological disease called Charcot-Marie Tooth Syndrome (or CMT). Among having experienced abusive relationships, been left with 4 little kids, and experienced the loss of both parents amidst many other trials including her disease, she has accomplished much and sacrificed most of her life for her children. She is a great mother and I am proud to graduated college with her! I would like to nominate her as the woman of the week, because she is the woman of my life.

Woman of the Week for 07/16/2014: Monica Abare

Nominated by: Garry Abare

My wife is a fantastic woman. She works at Orlando Regional as a Physician Asst. Once a month she uses her professional talents volunteering for Shepherd’s Hope, a Catholic agency that provides free medical care to the community. Two of my three boys were in high school band. She spent six years as a band mother/officer and also provided the medical care at the football games for the same six years. She has been an Eucharistic minister at our church and has participated in numerous volunteer efforts through the church. I don’t tell her often enough how much I love, respect, and admire her for everything she does for not only our family, but also for others. She’s a Godsend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woman of the Week for 07/24/2014: Brenda Blevins

Nominated by: David Blevins

Not counting the fact she is a terrific wife ,homemaker, grandmother to 9 and has taken on the job of raising one grandson who is now 16. She has worked at our food pantry for our church for the past 2+ years. This past year she has been the Volunteer Pantry Coordinator. Which has grown into quite a lot of time and responsibility. Our church has an attendance of around 4,000 and the pantry is our largest ministry. My work keeps me gone months at a time so she does all this pretty much on her own. Having the chance this summer to work with her, myself and our grandson has really made me so proud of what she is doing. Working with the volunteers and really stressing the fact that this ministry is first about the thousands that need help and letting them know that they aren’t forgotten and God loves them too. Second is the food and no one leaves without that need being met. The fellowship she has developed with the volunteers and with the public, you can’t help but feel the spirit working every time you are there. To me this is a woman of a lifetime.
