Art Trading Cards: Mixed Media Class

Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach, Cocoa Beach FL

Elizabeth Scholder will teach a three week mixed media class at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causewayin downtown Cocoa Beach, on Tuesdays from 10 am to noon, February 15 and 22 and March 1,2019. Students will explore a variety of media, and styles in this fun class.  Elizabeth will demonstrate a new technique inspired by art history.  Each week you will create two art Trading Cards.  Cards are 5 x 7 inches or smaller and can be used as postcards, greeting cards, traded , or saved as a mini-portfolio.  All materials are provided but feel free to bring materials to try with her help.

Elizabeth taught art for 25 years, including two and three dimensional design in Northern Virginia, and painting at Lord Fairfax Community College.  Her illustrations have been published in two textbooks.  Her artwork has been exhibited in Ontario, New York, Virginia and Florida. Elizabeth has taught classes at the Cocoa Beach Library since 2015

The Studios of Cocoa Beach is a non-profit gallery featuring the work of 30 plus local artists.  As the creative hub at the beaches it presents a full schedule of workshops in a variety of techniques from beginner to advanced, adults and children. The Studio is open Monday and Tuesday 10:30 am-3pm, Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 am-8pm and Sunday 11am-4 pm. St. Luke's Concert Series: Open Rehearsal-UCF Symphony

Location: St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oviedo FL


The UCF Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Chung Park, presents “Constellation of Stars.”  The program features violinist, Ayako Yonetani and cellist, David Bjella performing Brahms’ famous Double Concerto.  Also featured will be the winner of the UCF 2018 Concerto Competition.

This family-friendly program  is  presented by  St. Luke’s Concert Series,  which is celebrating 25 years of offering a full season of concerts from September through April, with free admission and parking, as its gift to the community.

Attending the dress rehearsal may be a good choice for those wishing to avoid concert crowds… more seating and parking space! It’s also a unique opportunity to learn how important the conductor’s role is in refining a concert program.

Cookies & Canvas: Family Paint Night

Location: Calvary Kids, Winter Park FL

Join Calvary Kids for a night of painting, cookies & family FUN! Participants 8 years and older are welcome to join in and paint an AWESOME creative piece!! This night will be lead by an amazing artist who will gladly walk all levels of painters through creating this fun creative piece! No experience required, just come ready to paint and excited to try something new! Each registration includes one canvas, all supplies (paint brushes, palettes, paper towels etc.), cookies and drinks! Registration is $25 per painter and paid at the door (cash or card accepted).

Night of Praise

Location: Apopka Community Center/VFW Post, Orlando FL

A concert of Southern style Gospel Music Featuring the Songfellows, from Nashville TN, Armomd Morales, original Bass singer with the Imperials and the Banksons from right here in Apopka, FL will be presented at the Apopka Community Center (VFW) at 519 S. Central on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 7pm- 9pm (doors open at 6). This event will also be used as a fundraiser for Loaves & Fishes and The Apopka Pregnancy Center.

The Songfellows are the featured artist on “The Brush Arbor Jubilee” seen in over 30 million homes in the US and Canada and by satellite around the world on the RURAL/FamliyNet Channels. The Songfellows developed a style of quartet singing that influenced an entire generation of quartets.  The group has recorded over 20 Albums.

Most people know Armond Morales from decades of hearing his velvety-smooth voice as the bass vocalist in The Imperial’s original quartet. They won 4 Grammy Awards – 13 Dove Awards – in 1998 Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame – Performed with Jimmy Dean, Elvis Presley, Carol Channing and Pat Boone – Recorded the Daniel Boone theme song –  Appeared in a movie with Elvis called “That’s The Way It Is” –  Recorded 42 albums ~ 463 songs and Traveled to 22 countries.

The Banksons have recorded 25 albums with guest appearances on many TV programs, including TBN and ABC TV.  They have traveled over 100,000 miles in 49 states and several foreign countries.
