Wekiva Elementary Koala Golf Scramble

Wekiva Elementary is hosting their very first Koala Golf Scramble on Monday, February 18th at Wekiva Golf Club in Longwood, Florida.    

The tournament will be played in a four-person golf scramble format. Tournament day check-in begins at 7 a.m. and Tee Time is at 8:30 a.m. Entrance fees are $75 per player and include lunch, greens fees, range balls, and cart fees.

Guests are welcome and individuals will be paired with other players.

Prizes include two place prizes, a long drive prize, a closest to pin prize, raffles and more. A silent auction and raffle will be running simultaneously throughout the day for golfers and will be open to the public from 3-4 p.m. at the Wekiva Golf Club clubhouse.

The tournament is presented by Wekiva Elementary PTA in sponsorship with #1 Longwood realtor Homes by Team Schroth. Proceeds from this event go to support Wekiva Elementary PTA and the students and faculty of Wekiva Elementary. Wekiva Elementary PTA aids teachers by providing necessary resources and technology equipment for classrooms and clubs, supports outdoor recreation and the Arts, creates engaging contests and events that benefit students, their families and the Wekiva community.

SPANISH IMMERSION SPRING BREAK CAMP

Children join a wonderful world of stories, “cuentos”. They make projects regarding the stories. Children can complete art and science projects, dance and sing to the rhythm of catchy music in Spanish, play games and much more. There also are some exciting and delicious cooking projects. A fun way to practice and learn Spanish. Don’t miss it.

Here is a description of the regular 32 week program:
Programs are aimed at facilitating language development in children toward levels of bilingual and bicultural mastery in Spanish. They are grounded on a natural and constructivist methodology, reinforced by a cultural-based didactic method. Children will be speaking, reading & writing the language through hands-on activities, online activities and scenario-based challenges.

• Emphasis is given to providing opportunities to children to speak and communicate in the target language (Spanish).
• The program is designed and presented in a way where many hands-on and fun activities are included.
• The goal is for children to eagerly await coming to Spanish class!

Levels:
There are 6 different levels of instruction. Once children are registered, an assessment is made to make sure they are placed in the right level according to their Spanish skills and age.

• It is a year round program. Each level has a length of 32 weeks.
• Class schedules work with the school calendar and have divided the 32 weeks into 2 semesters of 16 weeks each
•  During the summer break, the regular 32 week program is paused and a summer program is offered in its place.

Staff:
Teachers are native Spanish speakers, hold degrees in the educational field, have wide experience working with children, are trained in the correct methodology and have been background checked.
