St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run

Location: Virtual, Any Town Any State

This year, the annual Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run will be held VIRTUALLY beginning November 1 through 8. Walk or Run virtually anywhere and anytime you choose to help fill our pantry
with food!

Participants can walk or run in any location, in the safety of your neighborhood, park, or even on a treadmill during that week. For those who would like the challenge, start a team by asking your friends, family, and co-workers to join us to help feed the poor. The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul conference at Holy Family is to serve the Central Florida community by providing compassionate and spiritual support services such as emergency food, financial assistance as well as home visits. The pandemic has created a particularly challenging year but the SVDP food pantry has continued to remain open and has seen an increase in those we serve upwards of 40%, as well as an increase in financial assistance we provide including rental, utilities, and medical assistance.

They invite you to participate in their virtual 5K by registering now, creating a team, and help spread the word to fill our food pantry. For those interested, sponsorships are still available and will be proudly recognized on their social media accounts.  Contact Leigh Keymont for more information,  321.276.3542—Lkeymont@yahoo.com.

Together we can help fight hunger and feed hope by filling the food pantry!

Evolve Church Grand Opening

Location: Evolve Church, OCOEE Florida

On November 1 at 10:30 AM, a new church is launching to serve the community of West Orange County.

Evolve Church is excited to launch a gospel-driven, community-focused ministry on a property that has been serving West Orange County for over 60 years.
Lead pastor Wes Stapp is working with his team to build a church focused on showing the love of God to the local community in tangible ways, noting that “Evolve is located in such a great community and is ready to grow with West Orange County.”
The heart of Evolve is a community of Christ-followers who love people where they are, no matter where they are. According to Pastor Wes, Evolve’s passion is to “walk with you as you take your next steps with Christ—whether your first step or your next step—in your journey. You’ll find no judgment here—only love and grace. If you think you need to change before you come, think again! There’s a place at Evolve for everyone.”
Evolve Church’s grand opening weekend starts with a Halloween trunk-or-treat at 4 PM in the large field in front of the church, complete with food, candy, bounce houses, games, and other fun activities. The following morning, the church will officially launch with a worship celebration at 10:30 AM. If you’re in the area, they would like you to know you’re invited!

Central Florida Life Chain Pro-Life Event

Location: Lowell Blvd., Orlando FL

Pro-Life advocates in Orlando are raising awareness NOW to build up to their 20,000 commitments.

Unbroken by the coronavirus pandemic this year, legions of pro-life individuals will form a socially distanced human “Life Chain” in Orlando on November 1st.

Timothy Plan is one of the first sponsors of “Life Chain” and will sponsor Life Chain Orlando, one of the largest Life Chain events in the nation, expecting 20,000 Americans in attendance.

Timothy Plan CEO Art Ally’s pro-life activities date back to the 1980s. Because of his passion to help save the unborn, he stood alongside 9,000 central Floridians in the annual Life Chain event in 1991, and has influenced more than 15,000 participants in past Life Chain Orlando events.

In early August, Mr. Ally co-hosted a lunch that drew 50 pastors who made a preliminary commitment of between 2,500 and 5,000 Life Chain participants from their congregations. Conversations with many more pastors are being held to raise awareness and gain commitments for this event.

The Timothy Plan, a family of biblically responsible mutual funds and ETFs, was founded in part to help save the lives of the unborn.

Life Chain dates back to 1987 and attracts tens of thousands of pro-lifers each year.

This event is especially timely in light of the very recent momentum and events by Planned Parenthood agreeing to remove Margaret Sanger’s name from their building.
