Carmina is a staple of the choral repertoire, full of energy, with beautiful and some familiar melodies. Orff created this setting of 13th century texts and songs in 1936, and its popularity soared and continues today. Orff’s composition quickly became popular and a staple piece of the classical music repertoire. The opening and closing movement “O Fortuna” has been used in numerous films as well as television commercials. Bold and bawdy, fiery and visceral, Carmina Burana is one of the most instantly-recognizable pieces in all of music. Escape into this intoxicating ode to life, lust and all things earthy, an unforgettable concert experience that thrills with haunting medieval chants, dynamic spectacle and sheer sonic force.
