Orlando Union Rescue Mission Annual Thanksgiving Banquet

Location: OURM Men’s Center, Orlando FL

LOCAL RESCUE MISSION TO HOST FINAL THANKSGIVING BANQUET AT CURRENT MEN’S CENTER LOCATION

On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, the Orlando Union Rescue Mission (OURM) will host its annual Thanksgiving Banquet for the last time at the current Men’s Center location on the corner of Central Boulevard and Division Street. This comes after the announcement last week that OURM reached a deal with the Orlando Magic to purchase the property for $3 million.

OURM’s annual Banquet is free and open to anyone within the community that may not otherwise be able to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal. A surge in meals served compared to last year’s numbers, will have OURM staff preparing to hand out anywhere from 800 to 1,000 dinners at the Banquet. Along with a warm meal, OURM will distribute new packages of socks and undergarments that have been donated by schools, churches, individuals and local organizations throughout the community.

Where: OURM Men’s Center- 410 West Central Blvd. Orlando, FL 32801 (parking on street directly in front of Men’s Division will be reserved for media and marked with cones)

Thanksgiving Outreach

Location: Faith Assembly of God, Orlando Florida

Lomda’s Ministry is a non-profit organization that works year round with the homeless and needy families. We are teaming up with Faith Assembly of God to collect donations for the holiday season. This year our desire is to reach out to over 3,000 families and we are in desperate need of your help and support. We are in need of volunteers and donations to collect nonperishable food items, (such as canned goods, rice, beans, pasta powdered milk) toiletries, (i.e. tooth paste, tooth brush, deodorant, shampoo), and other basic necessity items.

Volunteers are needed to help put together grocery bags to give out to the families and cook hot food in preparation for the next day’s event. If you would like to donate your time and get involved for the holiday season we will be located at Faith Assembly from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Curry Ford campus.

More information can be found on our website at Lomdas Friends along with information about the ministry. If you would like to make a donation online we have a secure page through PayPal on the website.

Please contact Maria Cartagena at 407.480.1820 or Sydney Donohue at 941.806.7476 for questions about the event and information.
