6th Annual "Florida Natives" Garden Tour

Location: various homes, Melbourne florida/brevard

The Conradina Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society is hosting it’s 6th Annual “Florida Natives” Garden Tour.

Visit 6 homes that have native plants in their landscapes.  Home owners will be assisted by volunteers to provide personal tours at each site.  Tickets are $6 per person and comes in the form of a booklet with the addresses and directions to each home.  There are three homes beachside, one in Melbourne and two in northeast Palm Bay.  Stroll the gardens and enjoy the beauty and low-maintenance of native plants.

42nd Annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival

Location: Central Park, Winter Park FL

You’re invited to the 42nd Annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11! Admission is free and all are welcome!

See more than 170 of Florida’s outstanding artists display their works in ten different categories, including ceramics, digital art, drawings and graphics, fiber, fine crafts, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography and sculpture.

Local artist Kate Carney’s painting of a majestic peacock was selected as the featured image for the 2015 festival poster. Posters can be purchased in advance at the Winter Park Welcome Center, located at 151 W. Lyman Avenue.  In addition, Winter Park’s iconic bird will be featured on postcards, t-shirts and tote bags with all merchandise available at the festival.

Throughout the weekend, enjoy live musical entertainment on the Northwestern Mutual Stage, children’s art workshops led by instructors from The Crealdé School of Art, food vendors and a sidewalk sale at local merchants.

Park Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from Lyman Avenue north to Canton Avenue.  Ample parking can be found on area side streets and parking garages. A bicycle valet will also be organized by the Winter Park Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Board in Central Park’s West Meadow along Morse Boulevard between New York Avenue and the railroad tracks.
