Parenting In Today's World: Free Workshop

Location: Brevard Public Schools, Boardroom, Viera, FL, Viera Florida

The workshop is designed for parents and caregivers raising children from preschool through high school. Brevard Public Schools, The Child Abuse Prevention Task Force, SEDNET, and FDLRS host this event. This is a FREE workshop that will present breakout sessions covering topics such as children and social media, what your teen wants you to know, strengthening families and raising responsible kids, and ages and stages: what every parent needs to know. This session teaches the two fundamental cornerstones that create happiness and well-being. We’ll uncover ten activities to generate an attitude and an environment in which you and your children can THRIVE.

Car Wash to Help Support "Friends of The Poor Walk"

Location: Bob Evans Restaurant, Mount Dora Florida/Lake

Car Wash to Support The “Friends of The Poor Walk”:
St. Vincent De Paul (SVDP) feeds over 1000 people in Lake County every month! And on October 11, 2014 you can help us raise money to feed them. Join us for a Car Wash fundraiser (for a donation of your choice). This Car Wash, along with the “Friends of the Poor Walk”, is to benefit the people of Lake County. The Car Wash will be held behind the Bob Evans Restaurant in Mount Dora. Additionally, on October 11th, if you choose to eat at Bob Evens, 15% of your total food bill will go to benefit SVDP when you present a “Friends of The Poor Walk” flyer at the counter during payment.

The “Friends of the Poor Walk”:
The walk will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Registration for the “Friends of the Poor walk” begins at 8 a.m. and the walk will be around Lake Gracie at 9 a.m. All donations will receive a free T-shirt! Join us afterwards at the St. Mary’s of the Lakes Catholic Church Parish Hall for FREE food and drinks.

Fun Coast 9th Annual Buddy Walk: Down Syndrome Association

Location: Central Park at Town Center, Palm Coast FL

Join us for a day of family fun to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk® has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 Walks planned for 2014 worldwide. In 2013, more than $12.2 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.

The Buddy Walk raises the funds for the general budget of the Fun Coast Down Syndrome Association. These monies fund the recources we provide to individuals with Down syndrome in Flagler, E Volusia, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
