Heart Screening for Youth 6-18 years old

Location: Kid’s Community College, Ocoee FL

Saving Young Hearts is providing heart screenings for children and young adults between the ages of 6 and 18 years old that can detect risk factors and conditions associated with sudden cardiac arrest. It’s safe, quick, non-invasive and painless! The heart screening consists of:

  • Personal & family heart health questionnaire
  • Height and weight
  • Blood pressure reading
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Auscultation (listening to the heart)
  • Limited echocardiogram for those with abnormal ECG and/or other risk factors
  • Results reviewed by Board certified pediatric cardiologist
Children/young adults and their accompanying family members also learn hands-only CPR and AED use at our heart screening events.
Cost: $10 per child/young adult
(the first 100 registrants will receive a refund at screening)

You and your family are invited to the St. Andrew 5K College Fun Run/Walk! There will be lots of family-friendly activities, a family fun zone, face painting and a community resource space. Post-race food and beverages will be available for all participants.

St. Andrew Catholic Church seeks to build community awareness about educating our most vulnerable youth. The theme is “run with us to college on our way to heaven.” They believe every child should have access to a quality education as it is the proven pathway out of poverty.

Wycliffe Associates Bible Translation Workshop

Location: Designer Truth Ministry Training Center, Altamonte Springs FL

You are invited to Wycliffe Associates’ Bible Translation Workshop! There are more than 4,000 languages still without one verse of scripture. Many of them do not have adequate access to Bible translation resources, but you can help change this!

During this workshop, you will be trained on how to write notes for translating the Bible, that will enable people to bring God’s Word to their language for the first time. These notes include information on the necessary content that national translators need to know about particular Bible passages. Topics may include: history, culture, exegesis, and doctrine; create material to be used in other languages and cultures; explain Biblical and technical ideas in simple language. These notes will be translated into 43 gateway languages and made available for free to anyone through our Translation Studio App.

Winter Springs ARToberFEST

Location: Winter Springs Town Center, Winter Springs Florida

What do you get when you combine an annual rockin’ Oktoberfest with an awesome Festival of the Arts? Something for everybody! And that’s just what the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Winter Springs is going to bring to the Central Florida community this fall. The two day event, known as ARToberFEST, presented by Bright House Networks Business Solutions, will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the grounds of the beautiful Winter Springs Town Center.

Last year proved quite successful as the Chamber combined the popular fall Oktoberfest, fashioned after the well-known worldwide German celebration, with the City of Winter Springs’ highly-anticipated annual Festival of the Arts. This joint venture has become the ultimate must-attend party partnership for enthusiasts of every age.

The family friendly event will showcase both local and nationally recognized artists. All forms of art will be accepted from drawings, painting, and mixed media to fine crafts, jewelry, and sculptures. Enjoy German-inspired food available for purchase from various vendors. The kids’ area, even bigger and more awesome than ever, will keep the youngsters entertained. Europa, a local German band, brings authentic music both days. Pull up a chair or a blanket and enjoy the tunes performed between 10 a.m. -5 p.m. both days of the event.

Mission of RAMP is to assist men and women released from incarceration and support them in their journey to becoming productive community members. The purpose of this event is to shine a light on the disenfranchisement of felons by providing assistance and resources, starting with two of our community leaders as guest speakers.

This event will include an opportunity to network with community activists and organizations who have the same goals. Lunch and community resources will be available, as well as fun for the kids!
