Soup Bowl Supper


Location: St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs FL

Soup Bowl Supper is a fundraiser to fight homelessness in our community. All proceeds support the critical work of Pathways to Care, a program of Catholic Charities of Central Florida, in providing a safe place to heal for homeless men and women recovering from serious illness and injury.

The event includes gourmet soups from local restaurants and celebrity chefs, live entertainment, silent and live auctions.

Featuring:

  • Keynote Speaker John Hillenmeyer, Commission on Homelessness and Former CEO of Orlando Health
  • Emcee Ellis Feaster, Z88.3 Morning Show Host.

Donate for Cancer Patients and Pink Ribbion Contest


Location: Forest Lake Church of Seventh-day Adventists, Apopka FL

Make a Donation:
Help us support cancer patients by donating the following items:

  • Colorful large or small brimmed hats
  • Matching hat/scarf sets
  • Baseball caps, gently used wigs/hairpieces
  • Small 10 x 7 pillows to help ease the pain after surgery

These gifts of love will be submitted to the Cancer Society during the Cancer Emphasis Month in October. On October 26, 2014 all gifts will be received in the Upper Youth Center from 10:00 a.m. – Noon. Please enlist the help of neighbors, friends and relatives to support us with the campaign and make your submissions as early as possible as we would like to include a card of encouragement with each item submitted to remind them, they are loved and they are not alone; we share in their suffering. Join the Pink Ribbon Contest:

There is a pink ribbon contest happeing as well. You can enter by picking up your kit and the entry form from the welcome desk on any Saturday this month at the Church’s Welcome Center from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Fill out the entry form and bring it along with your ribbon to the brunch held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – noon. Make your ribbon as fancy and as creative as you can. Kits are limited, so get your kit quickly and support cancer victims and their families.

Tuskawilla United Methodist is having their annual fall festival. This is a family fun filled afternoon. This year there will be a trunk or treat, inflatables, carnival games, and a food truck. Tuskawilla UMC will also be having their pumpkin patch going on as well. Come join TUMC for a fun fall afternoon.

Below is a Public Service Announcement relating to the 2nd Annual Child Hunger Summit to be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding this critical gathering of religious leaders to address the growing problem of hunger and malnutrition with young kids in Brevard County.

At the Summit, religious leaders will learn what their roles can be in helping to solve the local hunger issue with our kids and that the key to solving the problem is local, grassroots and within their grasp.

Public Service Announcement

The 2nd Annual Child Hunger Summit will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at the Holiday Inn-Viera.

The Summit, starting at 9:00AM, is designed for Brevard County’s religious leaders and leaders of faith based organizations.

The Summit will bring awareness of the significant hunger issues local kids are facing.

Church leaders will learn what their roles can be in helping to solve the local hunger issue with our kids.

Announcer Background:

The Children’s Hunger Project provides packages of food to Brevard County elementary school age children who are undernourished and coming to school hungry on Monday mornings. The food is given to children when they leave school on Friday. The food packages empower a child to have some nutrition for the weekend no matter the family circumstances. The charity raises money locally with all funds distributed only in Brevard County.
