Art Happening

Location: The Albin Polasek Musuem, Winter Park Fl

Skip the hassle of downtown and try something new at the Polasek Museum! Homeless and Hungry, a local Homeless Advocacy group, has teamed up with a world renowned graffiti artist and the Polasek Museum for an event you do not want to miss. First, “Skid Robot” will create a work of graffiti LIVE in our Scripture Gardens right before your eyes! Skid Robots’ work illustrates the dreams of the homeless of LA’s infamous “Skid Row”. Then, courtesy of Rethinkhomelessness, we will view the video short “Cardboard Stories” which has gotten over 4 million Internet views and highlighted the plight of our citizens. Finally, Tom Rebman, the “Homeless Teacher”, will be speaking on local homelessness issues! Then local homeless advocate, Tom Rebman – known all over the country simply as the “Homeless Teacher,” sheds light on this relevant social issue; what are the real challenges facing our large homeless population in Orange County, what was his experience living as a homeless person, and what can we do to help now. The Polasek Museums’ Student Night celebration includes complimentary arts activities for all visitors. If you’re a student learn about internship opportunities at the Polasek, with Curator, Rachel Frisby!

All proceeds from the sale of his art will be used for future homeless advocacy.
