    Friday, April 21 | 8:30 p.m. | Buehler Planetarium | Standard planetarium admission
$6 adults, $4 students and adults 55+, free for College students, faculty, and staff

In a seemingly limitless universe, only our planet, Terra, is known to harbor life. This full-dome video presentation examines what makes our five billion-year-old “third rock from the sun” so special. “Terra” takes visitors back to the very beginnings of the Earth, the massive impact that astronomers believed formed our moon and caused the separation of the first oceans from the continents. Visitors discover how the unique characteristics of Earth have made life on this planet possible, and how the planet has evolved and changed, a process that continues today. There may be billions of stars, but there is only one “Terra.”
Appropriate for ages 5 and up.

  • NEW Planetarium Show: “Two Degrees: Earth on the Edge”
    Saturday, April 22 | 7 and 8:30 p.m. | Buehler Planetarium | Standard planetarium admission
$6 adults, $4 students and adults 55+, free for College students, faculty, and staff

Two degrees Celsius. That increase to the average temperature of Earth is believed by climate scientists to be a “point of no return” – where the profound changes to our planet’s environment and atmosphere instigated by greenhouse gas emissions could prove irreversible. “Two Degrees” explores the science of climate change and global warming, from the coldest, deepest ravines of the Antarctic to the seashores of Florida, and across millions of years of Earth’s history. Alongside the planetarium’s stunning full dome imagery and animations, “Two Degrees” is a warning – and a call to action.
Most appropriate for ages 9 and up.

“Earth Week tells the story of our very own planet, from its geological history, our ever changing climate, and our ability to protect,” said Derek Demeter, Director of Seminole State College of Florida’s Buehler Planetarium. “Using our unique technological capabilities here at the planetarium, we hope patrons who attend our events leave with a better appreciation to our unique place in the cosmos and why it is important we protect it for generations to come.”
Located on Seminole State’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust Planetarium at Seminole State College of Florida offers live, interactive shows and full-dome video presentations.
