Hear from New Missions team members about how they served before the earthquake hit. All of this footage was captured between Saturday, January 9 - Friday, January 15, 2010.
Please note, this video contains actual footage and pictures of the devastation in Haiti after the Earthquake.
We are very happy to report that all 44 people on the New Missions trip to Haiti, including our very own Melony McKaye, have made it back to the United States safe and sound. The team appreciates all of your prayers and support. The New Missions team asks that you continue to pray for the Haitian people as they pick up the pieces.
Your family can help Haiti by offering monetary gifts or supply donations. The links below are organizations who are doing wonderful things on the ground RIGHT NOW in Haiti that your family can get involved with to help.
We invite you to join us at the Laugh All Night comedy event this Sunday night (January 17) at First Baptist Church of Orlando. The Laugh All Night comedy events are brought to you and sponsored by New Missions. This Sunday's event is still the same-featuring comedian Tim Hawkins, but it will now also be a Relief for Haiti event. Come out to this FREE event with your family while also helping those in Haiti. You will hear the latest updates about the New Missions team in Haiti and how God is using the organization to help this impoverished country! A love offering will be taken at the event.
Praise God we have been evacuated from Haiti & are in the DR!!! God bless our men & women in uniform & you for your prayers!!
The group was supposed to return home to Orlando on Wednesday afternoon, but their trip has been delayed due to the earthquake. The latest update from Melony's husband is that the group on the New Missions trip to Haiti are hoping to get home sometime Friday night. Please continue to pray for their safety and travel.
We just received this quick video update from the New Missions team in Haiti right now (including our very own Z88.3 midday personality, Melony McKaye). This was taken on today (1/13/10) and sent to show all the friends and family that are worried and praying for them that they are safe.
Dave Nowak from New Missions posted this on his Facebook page within the last 20 minutes...
"The New Missions team of 44 was safely evacuated from Haiti on Friday, arriving at a secure location in the Dominican Republic. Arrangements are being made to fly the team back to Orlando, with an anticipated arrival as early as tonight."
Our very own Melony McKaye (from the Z88.3 Midday Show) has spent the last week in Haiti on her first mission trip. At 5:25 Wednesday morning, she was able to get a wi-fi signal to send the following update:
If you've not heard-we need prayer. A 7.3 earthquake hit us directly yesterday just before 5:00 p.m. As you can imagine such a major disaster in a 3rd, actually 5th, world country is challenging. God is GREAT & in control we are all together and safe. Pray for water, safety, a way home & these beautiful people who had nothing and now have less. It has continued to shake all night long but God's peace IS reigning!
We have no phone coverage & not sure when we'll have wifi again.
Please pray for David and my kids.
Miss & love you all!!!!
Mel
P.S. Please reassure MANY parents of The First Academy and First Baptist Oviedo groups that their kids are safe and well and amazing God trusting kids!!!
Check out the New Missions Website for more information on the mission trip that Melony McKaye and the Orlando team are currently serving.
