In collaboration with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), the Family Care Council (FCC) Area 13 partners with local organizations to provide community forums, events, and conferences that benefit individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The mission of the Family Care Council Area 13 is to advocate, educate, and empower individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. In partnership with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, FCC Area 13 works to promote quality services that support dignity, choice, and greater independence.

FCC Area 13 serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families throughout Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties.
FCC Area 13 is hosting a free Family Empowerment Conference for individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and members of the community on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, at the Clermont City Center located at 620 W. Montrose Street, Clermont, FL.

The conference will feature five panelists, with one representative from each of the five counties served by FCC Area 13. The conference is designed to educate individuals and families about person-centered planning, natural supports, state programs, and local resources. State Agencies, Vendors and service providers will also be onsite to share information about the programs and services they offer.
