Cirque du Soleil is bringing its iconic Big Top experience to Orlando for the first time with new show, LUZIA!

Cirque du Soleil is coming to Orlando this winter with its delightfully-imaginative and visually-stunning Big Top production LUZIA, a waking dream of Mexico. From March 8 – 31, 2019, local audiences are invited for the first time ever under the Cirque du Soleil Big Top at The Florida Mall to escape to an imaginary Mexico – a sumptuous world suspended between dreams and reality.

In a series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA takes audiences on a surrealistic journey through a vibrant world filled with wonders, playfulness and striking artistry. Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, LUZIA cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity. Rich in awe-inspiring moments, LUZIA enchants by incorporating rain into acrobatic and artistic scenes – a first for a Cirque du Soleil touring production.

With mesmerizing and refreshing acrobatic performances, LUZIA brings traditional and contemporary circus disciplines to a whole new level. Cyr Wheel artists perform the unprecedented feat of rolling and spinning under the rain, while an aerialist suspended from a Trapeze flies and twirls through pouring showers. Hoop Diving is taken onto gigantc treadmills, expanding exponentially the speed and amount of daring leaps executed. Jaw-dropping highlights include a male contortionist skillfully twisting his body in the world’s most unimaginable positions, a powerful Aerial Straps specialist defying the laws of gravity at the center of a cenote (natural sinkhole), a juggler tossing seven pins at breakneck speed, and two football (soccer) freestylers deftly mixing street dance with mind-blowing ball manipulation.

The Big Top Experience
Since its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has been presenting traveling Big Top shows all around the world. The overall excitement of going to the circus, the otherworldly atmosphere of the Big Top, as well as its intimate setting elevate the Cirque du Soleil experience. LUZIA is the company’s 17th show to be presented under a Big Top.

Movin' with the Manatees 5K

Manatee Cove Elementary School is pleased to announce the Movie’ with the Manatees 5K and Fun Run tentatively set for Saturday, March 9, 2019.

The proceeds from the 5K will be used to purchase much needed technology for their students. As technology continues growing and changing by leaps and bounds daily, Manatee Cove Elementary is committed to doing all they can to ensure their students learn the skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century and beyond.

5th Annual Running wtih the Chromies 10K/5K/ 1 Mile Fun Run

Come out and run with the chromies for a certified, chip timed 10K or 5K run/walk through the scenic Gemini Springs Park. There will also be a 1 Mile Fun Walk for those wanting to come out and enjoy the scenery with a shorter stroll. This 10K/5K walk/run & 1 Mile Fun Walk is in honor World Down Syndrome Day, which is on March 21st each year. This date is significant as it represents the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. Plan to stay after the 5K/1 Mile Fun Walk and bring the family to the Spring Festival. Admission to the festival is free and each 10K & 5K participant will receive a $5 coupon off a wristband.

Car Wash and Yard Sale

Two congregations have merged and they need to ‘clean house’.  Come by and browse their ‘stuff’ while getting your car washed. Located behind the Circle K on Apopka-Ocoee Road in Paradise Heights.  The facility was formerly McCormick Road Baptist Church.

5th Annual Spring Festival

Welcoming Hearts will be hosting the 5th Annual Spring Festival.  This is an outdoor family friendly event and admission to the festival is free.  Bring the whole family and enjoy some fresh air and music while you stroll the festival checking out a variety of vendors with information and various items for sale.  If you get thirsty or hungry there will be food vendors selling from their menus.  In addition there will be face painting, carnival type games, bounce houses, rock wall climbing, bungee trampolines and more for the price of tickets or wristbands.
