Beginning Watercolor Class with Ed Carlson


Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach, Cocoa Beach FL

The Studios of Cocoa Beach in downtown Cocoa Beach is offering a one day class “Getting Started in Watercolors” for beginners to intermediate artists on Saturday,November 2, 2019 from 9 am to 1 pm. The class will be taught by Ed Carlson, an award winning local artist with extensive teaching experience.

This four hour workshop offers the essential basics of watercolor painting. The workshop will acquaint students with easy methods to paint bright and fresh watercolors with a limited color palette and learn to make economical decisions when purchasing supplies .  No drawing experience is necessary.  A sketch will be provided and students will apply the elements of color theory, composition, and dimensional effects to the painting.

Students are invited to bring their own supplies.  However, Ed will provide all necessary paint, paper, tissues, and watercups.  By the end of the class you will have completed a beautiful winter landscape.  Fee is  $50. Trinity Lutheran Church of Titusville, FL will be holding a Candy Cane Bazaar on November 2, 2019 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm as part of a community wide event along with other local churches as part of a Holiday Stroll. The event will include craft vendors, bake sale, silent auction, children’s craft corner, door prizes, raffles and more. This will be a fun day to start your holiday shopping by purchasing items made by local crafters, as you shop from church to church. Charities that will be supported by this event are the Children’s Hunger Project and National Homeless Veterans Support.

Suntree Fall Festival at Hope Episcopal Church

SUNTREE, FL) September 12, 2019 —   Anyone who is looking for that perfect holiday gift is welcome to visit the Suntree Fall Festival at Hope Episcopal Church. 46 vendor tables will be inside and outside of the church at 190 Interlachen Road (just west of the Publix plaza on Wickham) in Suntree on Saturday, November 2, 2019, 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. There you can find handmade craft items, spa and beauty products, children’s items, home décor, business vendors, and more. The Second Annual church fundraiser will again feature the “Valuation Station”, where for a $10 donation, attendees can bring in their vintage and antique items and receive a professional evaluation* by valuations expert and author of The Jolly Art of Junking, L.A. Davis. Davis has been doing valuations for more than 20 years and is a professional estate seller. Children are invited to visit the bounce house, get their faces painted or do a kid’s craft, whileadults can purchase raffle tickets for large prize filled baskets. The Chick-Fil-A Cow will make a special appearance for photo opportunities. Mr. P’s DJ Service will yet again be there to provide music while festival-goersstop by the Café inside for food from Chick-fil-A, chips and drinks, along with tasty baked goods. Be sure to cool down with a tasty treat from the Valdarrama Ice Cream Truck. This year the event will feature its newest addition,an Animal Adoption Area with furry and fluffy friends brought in by Aloha Adoptions. SeaWorld Orlando's Praise Wave

SeaWorld’s Praise Wave is coming back this fall, and each Saturday will feature a different Z artist.

SeaWorld’s Praise Wave is included with regular park admission and passholders can get in with their annual pass at no additional cost. Two incredible concerts will be held each Saturday in SeaWorld’s Nautilus theater. Because park admission is included with your ticket, you’ll be able to ride Mako or Kraken and watch all the animal shows before finishing the day singing along to some of your favorite Z songs!

Appalachian Basket Class with Nancy Bindig


Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach, Cocoa Beach FL

The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting this beginner’s workshop on November 2, 2019 from 2 pm to 7 pm.  Nancy Bindig will teach you how to make an Appalachian Egg Basket with a ribbed handle using sea grass, paper cord, yarn and other soft round materials.  You will create the structure of the basket (ribs) with round reed.  Using basic tabby weave (over and under) you will pack the spaces between the ribs to fill in the basket.  Students are encouraged to bring any materials from home that they would like to add to their basket.

Nancy Bindig of Merritt Island is both a fiber artist and art instructor. She started her self-taught basketry journey years ago with traditional techniques, materials and forms, then moved on to incorporate  palm inflorescence and other natural materials. She holds a BS in Art Education and has taught a variety of adults and children in myriad settings.
