ELCLC 5K Storybook Run

The 5K Run/Walk-Storybook Run is a benefit fundraiser for the Early Learning Coalition of Lake County.  Funds raised are reinvested locally in the School Readiness Program, a Child Care Subsidy Program that provides high-quality early childhood education and childcare.

The 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk – Storybook Run (Dress up as your favorite childhood storybook character) and Fun Run/Toddler Crawl will take place Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Victory Pointe, 938 Victory Way, Clermont, FL 34711.

HOPE's Sham Rock N Run 5K

What better way to support your favorite local non-profit, than to have fun doing it at HOPE’s Annual Sham Rock N Run 5K presented by Oviedo Medical Center!

Advent Health presents The House Next Door Family 5K at beautiful Gemini Springs! Two Options available; option one: 5K Timed Run/Walk – West Trail, option two: 1-mile Un-Timed Fun Run/Walk – East Trail

Grace UMC Preschool is having a church yard sale to benefit the Women’s Mission Program at their church. With the money collected, they’ll be able to do more good and help more people in the local community!

Discover Encaustic Painting Class

Encustic is the ancient technique of painting with colored wax.  On Saturday March 7, 2020 from 10 am to 4 pm, the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach will host a class where you can explore painting with hot wax!  Using melted, pigmented beeswax and a variety of techniques, you will learn about tools, materials , and substrates as you create several works of art to take home and enjoy.

The class is taught by Shelley Jean.  An experienced art educator, Shelley teaches at the Maitland Art Center, Mt. Dora Center for the Arts, aad at her Orlando home Secret Place Studio where she specilaizes in encaustics.

Orlando School Counselor Leaves to Educate Parents Instead!

Orlando (February 14^th, 2020)- Tara Boddie, an educator for over 15 years recently left the school system to help parents build successful families to impact the lives of children. Starting as a classroom teacher in 2005, Boddie thought she could best serve her community by academically preparing students to achieve and become productive members of society, but after a few short years she realized that the day-to-day family issues was more of a factor in their success than their intelligence. After serving 10 years as a guidance counselor for children ages 3 to 18 Tara Boddie has finally decided to help the family.

Gaining experience as marriage ministry leaders in their church, Tara and her husband Jason started The Healthy Marriage Movement where they engage couples through workshops and conferences on how to strengthen their marriage and build healthy marriages for the sake of their children. In 2019, Tara penned her first book, “Marriage Is A Beautiful Thing, But I Wish I Would’ve Known” (Self Published December 2019) to highlight the challenges couples experience juggling purposefulness, marriage, and children, and how they can experience a life-changing transformation realizing the power they have to cultivate healthy marriages and families.

On March 7, 2020, Tara invites the media and public to her book discussion and signing at a private location to be released to those who register for the event and media who contact Boddie. This open and transparent discussion will jump start a couple’s journey to loving their spouse uninhibited and utilizing the power God gave us to impact our family and build a continued legacy of successful marriages.

Boddie, married and raising three kids, tells her story in an inspiring manner that draws in the reader and gives them hope for a more fulfilling marriage. “Marriage Is A Beautiful Thing, But I Wish I Would’ve Known” encourages couples to make a positive transformation by first understanding that marriage is not self-serving then learning to love their spouse beyond their faults as Christ loved the church.

In order to walk in that love there are four critical areas discussed:

• Setting a firm foundation and understanding the value of the “Ministry of Marriage”
• Overcoming a self-serving mentality and using the gifts God gave us to have a more fulfilling marriage
• Balancing your time in order to have healthy relationships in all areas of your life

Just finished reading “Marriage Is A Beautiful Thing…@ by Tara Boddie. If you have been married less than 50 years and are looking to “level up your relationship” you need this book.

Tara’s humor comes through as she get’s very transparent about the challenges she has faced in her marriage and how they overcame them. There are questions to ponder at the end of each chapter to help you honestly evaluate where you are in your own “ministry of marriage”.

If nothing else you will learn the difference between an Eve decision and a Godly decision. #My2Cents​

As a single person of faith I found this book to be engaging, enlightening & entertaining. This text was written in such a way that married & unmarried people could benefit. This powerful book unfolds God’s plan for marriage. Viewing marriage as a ministry takes on a totally different perspective & level of accountability.
