HopeNow Foundation Back to School Bash

Location: Amway Center, Orlando FL

When people come together, they can do some truly great things. HopeNow Foundation’s Back to School Bash is the perfect example of that!

Over 10,000 students will receive backpacks and health screenings at no cost during this bash- along with a fun day out, too. There’s also rumor of police officers, fire fighters, teachers, superheroes, and local celebrities coming to read their favorite children’s books during the event… not to mention that they will also be donating more than 15,000 children’s books to families in attendance!

As part of the “I CAN” project, HopeNow Foundation is asking every family coming to donate a can of food, with all donations going to local food pantries. At the event, every student will be able to share what they CAN and Will do with their education, and be able to be in a video for their website to inspire and empower other students to pursue their educational goals.

If your family is in need of some back to school prep, or even if you’d like to donate a can of food, please join HopeNow Foundation at the Amway Center on Sunday, July 29!

Free Christian Concert

Location: Delaney Street Baptist Church, Orlando Florida

Sunday, July 29 at 11 am – CONCERT

Delaney Street Baptist Church is excited to welcome local musician Charles Haugabrooks in concert in the church’s sanctuary. Charles has been singing with passion to the Lord for several decades. His distinctive tenor voice interprets gospel songs with unusual intensity. Watch Charles sing only one song and you’ll know he enjoys singing! “In some miraculous way, music got into me,” he explains. When Charles’ mother died when he was three years of age, he began to sing, perhaps to comfort himself. Singing became a way of life. When an evangelistic crusade came to his home town in 1978, it created a radical change in his life. “It not only redirected my musical outlook, but shaped all facets of my life. I’m still amazed!” he says. Charles studied Voice and Music Education at the University of South Florida, Florida Southern and Southern Missionary College. He has performed for audiences worldwide: throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Romania, Ireland, Central America, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Bermuda, Bahamas, West Africa, South Africa, East Africa, Jamaica and the Philippines. Charles has performed the National Anthem at Orlando Magic NBA Games and Professional Hockey and soccer league games in various arenas. He has appeared regularly on national television networks. His enthusiasm in vocal presentation is a result of his desire to give of himself until the people see the matchless love of God in every song he presents. His Mission is to use the art of music in a way that magnifies the loving character of God our Father through Jesus Christ. He presents music and spiritual testimony in a manner that is edifying, entertaining, simple and clear to “meet the audience where they are” and thereby encourage the listener to hear the Word of God as it speaks through a style of music that reveals the Loving Heart of Jesus Christ. Charles and his music are always loved and appreciated wherever he goes. He has the tender spirit of a true servant. Come experience the unique music ministry of Charles Haugabrooks at Delaney Street Baptist Church.

Wendy Barnes: August Featured Artist at Studios of Cocoa Beach

Location: Studios of Cocoa Beach, Cocoa Beach FL

Wendy Barnes is a wildlife artist creating sustainable lifestyle designs from original pen and ink drawings that she develops into fabrics and who gives back by donating a portion of proceeds to partnered conservation organizations.

Wendy’s background includes a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and a master’s degree from New York University in Real Estate Development leading her to a design career during which she was nominated for NYC Lobby of the Year, 2008 for IKON Condominiums, 50 Bayard Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

In 2015, Wendy moved to Melbourne where she works in wildlife conservation as Program Coordinator for Women of the Wild at Brevard Zoo. Wendy’s art soon became one with her conservation efforts, reflecting her respect for wildlife.

Wendy Barnes Design creates stylish gifts which educate on the importance of wildlife conservation.  Knowing that many people donate to wildlife causes but have no way to communicate their love of nature, Wendy uses her talents to create textiles and produce retail and custom items including reusable straw cases, favor bags, cloth napkins and pillows. Her designs bring the love of wildlife into your daily life . 10% of every item sold supports wildlife causes.

A free drawing for one of Wendy’s textiles, a drinking straw case in a sea star print will take place on Friday, August 17 during the Main Street Friday Fest in downtown Cocoa Beach . Developed in partnership with the Sea Turtle Conservancy, this light weight, washable case contains a reusable stainless steel straw.

Wendy’s art work can be seen daily at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach.  The Studio is open Monday and Tuesday 10:30 am-3:30 pm,  Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 am-8:00 pm and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm.  For more information on the exhibits, artists, and the workshop schedule, call 321-613-3480 or visit the website:  www.studiosofcocoabeach.org
