Volunteer Fest

Location: Barnett Park Gymnasium, Orlando FL

Volunteer Fest is a fair-like event that will be open to the public. It’s purpose is to allow attendees to explore the volunteer opportunities available to them right here in our Central Florida community. Local community partners will host booths to display their organizations and chat with prospective volunteers.

Along with community partner booths, Volunteer Fest will also feature food vendors and free family-friendly entertainment including bounce houses, face painters, and balloon artists.

We encourage people of all ages to attend–there is sure to be something for everyone!

Volunteer Fest will take place in the gym at Barnett Park, but will also spread onto the grassy area just outside.

Admission is free.

Back to School Summit

Location: Orlando City Hall Rotunda, Orlando FL

The Golden Rule Initiative invites you and your family are invited to Back to School Summit! This free event will focus on discussing issues that affect our schools, such as poverty, mental illness, bullying, domestic violence, and healthier eating. The information will be presented through panel discussions and workshops.

Community Back to School Bash

Location: New Hope Ministries of Orlando, Orlando Florida

On behalf of myself Rayaka Moore and Bishop Louis Henderson, and in collaboration with New Hope Ministries of Orlando, I would like to invite you to our annual Community Back to School Bash. Please save the date for Aug. 15, 2015 in Orlando, FL. This Community Back to School Bash will bring the surrounding communities together, provide school supplies to the children in the communities returning to school. Also letting them know we’re always here to help how ever we can. As well as present a different image to our youth and their families despite what’s being displayed in the news. In doing so restoring their faith in the City of Orlando, Community Leaders, themselves and Us!

Commissioner Jennifer Thompson hosts her 5th annual Back to School Event to provide District 4 Students with the tools and resources necessary to have a bright start to the new school year. Local businesses and community groups will be on hand to educate citizens about important services offered for free, as well as those services provided by Orange County. "Leaders for Life"

Location: Valencia College (Osceola Campus), Kissimmee FL

This one day event is devoted to providing Osceola School District students (Females only) in grade 10-12th an opportunity to receive leadership training, and speed mentoring from successful women in the community, along with awesome break-out sessions that include; dressing for success, make-up demonstration, self-defense demonstration, goal setting, resume building and the interview process, networking with other students from the Osceola School District, and an opportunity to hear our keynote speaker, and President of Valencia College, Dr. Kathleen Plinske.

This event is free to female students who attend an Osceola County High School or a Home School Program in Osceola County.
