City Year Orlando - Ripples of Hope

Experience City Year Orlando’s annual fundraising event, Ripples of Hope, for a thrilling evening of fellowship, food and drink, live music and inspiring testimonials. Ripples of Hope is a night to celebrate the selfless dedication by young adults working to transform the community one child at a time. Funds raised at Ripples of Hope directly support City Year’s service to students in Orlando.

You Can Paint! Paint Party

Everyone is creative and the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach offers Sip n’ Paint Parties for adults and families. Local artist and experienced teacher Jaymee Weinreich will guide you through a complete acrylic painting from 6 to 9 pm on Friday March 29, 2019.  Bring your friends and your favorite beverage and go home with a complete work of art:  a colorful sea turtle “Timothy Turtle”.

No previous experience is necessary.  Paint and canvas are supplied, you bring snacks and drinks and prepare for a fun experience.  $35 includes all materials.  Registration is required.  Contact Jaymee at jaymeeweinreich@gmail.com or 787-640-6119 (text or call).  Jaymee will also schedule special sessions for 2 or more people.

RU Recovery Program

RU is a faith based, Christ-centered addictions recovery program designed to rescue, recover, and restore those with addictive behaviors through the power of the hidden life found only in Jesus Christ. RU is an addiction recovery class which has helped the addicted experience a life of victory. This victory is obtained and retained, not through an experience of ongoing effort, but through a once-in-a-lifetime decision to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and a subsequent dedication to developing a dynamic love relationship with Him.

The RU program has a proven curriculum and weekly support meetings at Starlight EVERY Friday night at 7 pm. RU is designed to assist people in their recovery from any and all addictive behaviors, sticky habits and besetting sins.

If you or someone you know is struggling with an addiction, it is time to take action. Addiction crosses all societal boundaries, affects both genders, every ethnic group, and people in every tax bracket. Addiction is not about how much a person uses, but what their addiction is doing to their health, emotions, relationships and finances. So whether a person uses daily or once a week is irrelevant. It is commonly believed that an addict has to “hit bottom” before help can be offered and accepted. “Bottom” is where and when you decide to start a new life. Change can begin now. RU offers several resources to friends and families of addicts for support, encouragement and to learn how to help them.

The 4.01k Race for Financial Fitness™ is a local road race that’s raising money to make sure kids of all ages have access to financial education. The fifth annual 4.01k Race for Financial Fitness™ will be held at Orlando Cultural Park and after participants complete the 4.01k course, they’ll head to the Well-A-Bration™ complete with free beer, food from food trucks, kids activities, swag from vendors, live music and more!

Second Annual Quilt Show

The Mary Martha’s Sewing Group of First United Church of Christ is holding it’s second annual Quilt Show, Saturday, March 30 from 9 AM- 2 PM. The show will feature new and antique quilts as well as handmade crafts, a bake sale and refreshments.

New Horizon's Car Show and Family Day Spectacular

On March 30, 2019, New Horizon Church will be hosting a free event for the community. A collection of classic, vintage, custom, and new cars, as well as, Jeeps and motorcycles will be on display.  There will be food, games, bounce houses, horse rides, music and other activities for the entire family.  This event is scheduled to take place in the New Horizon Church parking lot (next to Ridge Community High School) which is located at 400 Orchid Drive, Haines City, Florida 33844.
